How would I go about doing this, to where when I plop the video in my DVD / PS2, to read the subtitles, and display them?

Or better yet, is there a way I can just COMBINE the .avi and .ssa files onto one, simple, .avi file to burn to the DVD?
Try VobSub

and VirtualDub

You will have to figure out how it works on your own FlameSage, but I used it with an Anime and Subtitles that came with it and the Titles are directly formatted into the Avi.

P.S. Make a copy of the original avi before using this just in case.

Is there a way to do this kind of thing with Nero or something?
That program looks hard.

Once you have it downloaded, open submux and simply drag the avi and SSA files into the box, avi first. Make both files selected and then click MUX. It will ask for the name of the end product type that in and click okay twice ignore the options on the second popup (It could mess it up). It might take a few minutes though and the ending file might be a bit large.
