Well I just brought a $5 computer. Its an average computer, 550mhz processer, 64mb RAM 4.3gb harddrive. Well anyway I want to play this game called Operation Flashpoint but it always comes up with this error:Not enough video memory. As I really want to play this game I wouldnt mind devoting some of my hard drive space as video memory. Is there anyway this can be done and if there is please tell me. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure Video Memory refers to your graphics card, and that your hardrive can't pick up the slack.
Also, WHERE DID YOU FIND A $5 COMPUTER?!?!?!?

Well here in Australia theres a computer martets each Sunday where companys and forign companys come and sell parts really cheap. Well I found this $5 computer. All it was missing was a Hard Drive and some RAM so I just put that in and walla, a full computer!
Urm, I wouldn't call it average. A little below average, if you ask me(but at $5, it's quite a catch). If you want to play your game, you'll probably need a few things such as:

  • New processor. Depending on the brand, it may not be so important. 550 MHz wouldn't do for an Intel processor, but for AMD it might be solid enough.
  • More RAM. My PC has like 500-ish MB memory, and that's still not quite enough.
  • More HD space. Probably won't matter(too much) for your game, but ~4GB isn't very much.
  • New graphics card. I'm guessing this to be the reference of "video memory."

Cheap as that scrawny little computer is, it's still gonna cost ya to get it going smoothly.

xD The word isn't "walla," it's "voila"(French).

Anyways, the price may be good, but the specs aren't quite so good. It'd still probably cost as much as a new computer to get it to match the specs of an average computer these days.

So what!? He could use that computer to host stuff on BYOND very easily and make some $$ here. All at the cost of $5. :P

Indeed he could. But he'd probably still want to upgrade a few things on it before opening his own hosting service.

Well, if they are only planning on hosting one or two games, that machine will do the job very well. I had a simular system running FlashChat and scoobsvill.com(Back in the day). It was great, and easy to maintain. I actualy gave up the machine to my grandparents, and I am saddened by the lose of Mule. My point is, that is a great computer to use for hosting, not really for desktop use (Although RedHat 9 with KDE worked great on mule, at least compaired to win98). I would strongly suggest, if he wants to use it for desktop uses, he put a linux distro on it, and forget gaming.
That's one heckuva deal. An "average" computer to me is about 350 mhz.

That depends on his connection. Its probably going to be a laggy server for the majority of people because its located in australia.

Nice grab.
As the others said, it's really not worth using as a personal computer. Maybe if you can get a little more RAM (By the sounds of it, it's probably p133 SDRAM, it's what 3 out of 6 of my machines are. Not too expensive on ebay) but personally I think, if you have the connection speed, you should throw a copy of linux on it and set it up as a server. Or, just a box to mess around on!

Get a "real" computer (one that can play games with any non-rubbishness, at least) if you wanna play Operation Flashpoint.

I play Operation Flashpoint a lot and before I upgraded my computer, I could get it running smoothly (with all the graphical settings on minimum/low and the visibility (distance) on medium) on my computer with an AMD 1.8 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and a 64 MB graphics card.

It plays really awesomely now I have 1 gig of RAM and a 256 MB graphics card. =)

So yeah, no way you're going to do it with that thing...

Haha, I get it, because white people are richer than black people, hahaha, ha...ha. (I'm white too, so it's totally not offensive ^_^)
