Well basically the way members use there voting powers is unfair. They are allowed to vote on whatever they like. I know they pay but this makes better games look bad. Take for example Unholy Naruto, started by Testament. I used to work on it though I quit and 2 months later it still says im coder so he hasnt done any work on it. It hasnt even really been started though when i look at the rank its in the 400's. My game monopoly is way better than that and should deserve a better rank than that piece of [profanity is not welcome here]. Its stupid how members vote for there own games even when they are not games.
The next case is the Last Robot Standing. Now I understand its a good game and all though it shouldnt really be rank 1. I believe the only reason it is is because its 2/3 members only. Therefore it will attract the members to vote on it.
If I see a game with a rank I usually want to play it, and this is probaly the same with everyone else, so this gives games like mine no chance which I think is very unfair. Please post what you think of this topic here.

It isn't going away. It's a good system, and will become more balanced when more people pay for BYOND. M'Kay?
And besides, ranking doesn't mean crap. Space Tug, one of the ultimate games on BYOND (which hasn't been hosted in an age), is a great game, but no hub=no rank. As for other BYOND defining games, well, they aren't ranked either. Go figure. |

While it is unfair, that's how it will be until BYOND finally changes the voting system. So many people will use "BYOND Member benefits" and buy their friends memberships and say "Vote for my game!". Basically, whenever someone does that, that's helping out BYOND, i think when a "DBZ" game goes number 1(Even if it deserves it or not) people will go ballistic saying "Y a dbz numba 1?". That's when the people will REALLY start asking for a change in the ranking system.
LRS, is a puzzle game, which i really don't like those types of game so yeah i would want something like Proelium(Which i think should've been number 1), or Star Wars galaxy by Ginseng(This game should at least be in the Top ten), instead you see unfinished games, copycat DBZ games, and a bunch of naruto games that never will, nor should've been worked on in the first place. But as long as it benefits BYOND i have no problem with it. |

They should at least un-enable people from voting for a inactive game.
Inactive meaning a game that's been inactive for at LEAST 1 or 2 months. |

yeh if you get a member ship you cant complain

It's sometimes not a matter of which games are better, but which game's fans are able to get memberships. You also are comparing yourself to a game that's been there for months. Your game was barely released. Improve your game a lot and get it published, then wait a little while. I can almost guarentee you a good Monopoly game will make it into the top 100, and probably the top 50.

What I want to know is if the inactive blogs (made by people during the beta but never paid for) vote's still count.

I don't think so. Back during the trial membership thing I recall seeing a whole bunch of icon chatting games wrestling for the top 20. After the trial period ran out, some of them dropped several hundred slots.

No, distinctly not like DWMA.
BYOND-defining games, in most peoples' opinions are like... Darke Dungeon, Space Station 13, Space Tug, Tanks, Proelium, Hedgerow Hall, and many, many others. These games put forth content that is not only creative, but fun to play with a small to large-ish group. BYOND is about the community experience, not the solo-kill-monsters route. |
It's not. Despite the non-member server being the worst (worst being a relative term) it's easily the most popular.
So while two out of three servers are members only the playerbase is not spread evenly over all three servers.
At the end of the day people will vote for what they like. If they're idiots and like garbage, that's what they'll vote for.
Ranks don't reflect how good a game is they reflect how popular it is. You might say that's stupid, but if a game is popular odds are people looking for a game to play will enjoy it more than the 'good but not so popular' games.
