I don't know about Trode, but Akira Toriyama has always worked on the Dragon Warrior/Quest series. I recall a monster in the 6th one that looks like Mr. Popo.

That monster is in DW7 too, and i think it's in DQ5 as well.


Also, people have told me the little fat guy reminds them of Yajirobe, but I don't really see it.

And yes, the main char is definitly Gohan/Goku. The hero in Dragonwarrior Kenshin *IS* Gohan, literally. His clothes are even Kai-style. DW 3/6 both have the goku hair.


Like many Anime artists, Akira's not very orginal from work to work.
