A few days ago, the right side of my desktop just started "wiggling" out of the blue. It seems to only happen when I'm online or something, but it just started recently. I have no idea what could have caused this, but I doubt its "supposed" to shake because it hasn't before. This a a brand new monitor and computer just bought earlier this year mind you(emachine). Anybody have a idea of what the problem is?
What sort of shaking? Like when you've got a phone ringing next to it?
Perhaps one of the cords is loose?

Wait... is it the shaking of the image or the monitor? Cuz if its of the image its probably the automatic degauss kicking in...scaring away all the bad magnetic crap...

As in..Like a uh..Rippling of the edges..It just shakes side to side with wrinkles in it every once in a while(Almost like its trying to resize). I'm kinda doubtin a chord loose, I haven't messed with the computer any other way besides typing and such.

does it ripple in an s shape and distort colors and such and such. That is definitely a degauss but wats casuing it?>

Hmm..It doesn't change colors..But the only thing I can think MAY have caused it would be me using my cellphone. I used my cellphone near it about 3-4 days before it started happening, and the monitor rippeld a bit and made a couple noises so I got off my phone..Thats all I can think of.

It's pretty normal for CRT monitors to "wiggle" a bit. You start to notice it when your refresh rate is high. On the other hand, if it is bothering you, try to increase your actual screen ratio rate to fill your "full" screen so you don't see the edges as much.

Ok thanks..Didn't know that was the cause.

you may also have a speaker or powersupply too near the screen which is causing this gausing effect. if it persists when you move magnetic things away from the screen, then you will need a 'de-gausing' coil, which can be found pretty cheaply at your local electronics or tv shop.

Yeah, something similar to that happened to some computers in my school. They connected a pencil sharpener in the same extention as the monitor, and since it was a cruddy monitor the scree would shake like it's degaussing. Also happened when another monitor beside another computer was degaussing. It'd do a "ripple" effect on the computers line by line.

Turn down the refresh rate.

Chances are, something is close to it that uses a lot of power or creates a magnetical field. My screen does that when I turn on an old monitor that sits next to it.

Hmm..Not really anything near it (Speakers, Broadband modem, Lava Lamp) but it hasnt done it in a while.
