Zeta to me is stupid. I was yesterday copying and editing things and claiming i knew how to code. Today i was reading through the dm guide and understood more then i thought. Right now im on chapter 3/4. The dm guide is helpful and fun to learn.
Yep..Just goes to show, listen to advice(Which you did).
Indeed you will learn a lot more by programming on your own than modifying someone else's (badly broken) code can ever teach you.

Well,I agree that the DM guide is helpful but its boring(to me)thats why i sit here reading libs and Tutorials.Lummox Jr any chance dantom or you will change the DM guide around to make it more interesting(im not saying the DM guide is not interesting) but any chances of you or dantom to change it around.By change it around i dont be change the words but like change the style of it.But,I would still read the DM guide but hardly. But i stoped reading on chap.4.

It does not need to be changed around, if you have the will to learn, you will get through the boring parts. But if you don't have the will to learn, you're not cut out to be a programmer.

unfortunately programming is not always an exciting event for everyone. much of the boring stuff is often the most elaborate or technical material. it's hard to make useful algorithm discussion anything but dry and boring.

i was just looking through my paper copy of the DM guide. don't see much that would be considered boring- in fact it appears that much effort was put into adding a bit of humor throughout.

ah, but to each his own.

Where can one get one of those? Besides by going 'print'.

Well, if the DM Guide is too dry for you, there's not much anyone can do to help you. It's as well-written and engaging as a programming guide can get.

Last I checked, they don't sell them anymore because they're pretty much outdated. But I think that you should probably email Tom ([email protected] I think) and I'm sure he'd let you have one.

HAVE? You mean buy. Mr. JB.

I think i have ADD. So, i advise you to make a "DM Video" a video tutorial on showing you how to utlilize DM to it's full potential.

I highly suggest that you don't take a look into the "Zeta" source code as Lummox suggested. But, if you must need a resource i'm soon releasing a "My first RPG" very soon. Or, perhaps get a nice mentor that will take the time to answer all your questions. Most of the people here suggest Zilal's tutorials, but infact I find they are too simple minded and leaves the reader of a sense of "okay...what do I do now?".

Uh, did you even read my post--or indeed, any of the thread? I never suggested, nor am I remotely stupid enough to suggest, that anyone should check out the Zeta code. Right here is my post that you replied to:

Note the full agreement with the original poster that Zeta code is a bad way to learn.

When replying to a post, you will find the handy dandy "original message" that you're responding to, right below the edit box. Normally people read a message before they respond to it, but if the urge to jump the gun ever strikes you again, you always have that second option of just scrolling down.

It's possible that he just worded the post incorrectly, and that he meant you suggested against looking at the code.
