Having experience, or having a diploma?

When I was 19 I was offered a position as a manager of my own store... which had I taken it, would have been an amazing experience to put on my resume. However, I was going to school full time and felt in order to do well in school I had to cut down on hours at work, so I had to refuse the offer. Once again I have an offer like this (working with Electronic Boutique) and I'm 20 going on 21. I am curious as to what you think is more important, that resume experience or a college diploma?

My sister and brother are both masters in psychology, and don't even have a job in their field. Thoughts?

It's tough to know in advance.

I have gotten to a pretty good position through knowledge and experience, without a college degree.

On the other hand, I would probably have more options open to me now if I had a degree, and I might have had access to even more interesting opportunities if I'd had the knowledge/experience that came with getting a degree.

As a general rule, though, it's probably best to get the degree. If you are getting manager offers now, you'll hopefully have similar opportunities after you have a degree. But at some point it gets harder and harder to take time out to get a degree, so if you go down that path you are unlikely to change it if it turns out to be a mistake.
From what I've been told from an instructor of mine the first things they look for are degrees and industrial certification. If you get a job from just experience, you'll probably only be able to go so far until they'll want you to go to college and get a degree. Either way, it's probably smart to start with a degree and get any certifications that are in that field.

Then again, sometimes the workplace will pay for your college. Good luck to whatever you decide to do.
