Wow, I've got to give it to arena net for creating an awesome technology, not just a game.

the stream line technology they use is just amazing, they can add or change anything they want at any given time in the game world... making patchs harmless, and easily fixable if they are unbalanced or whatever...

anyone else buy this game?

It's worth the money, simply great graphics, great gameplay... and amazingly addicting pvp.
Yep, my brother and I both got it. just got to pick his up :P, mine is in the mail.
I have been playing the beta for a while, it is great. I want to buy the game, but havent had a chance yet. I plan on getting it tomarrow.

Ok, I have now had some time to play and am now a level 8 Rng/War. If you guys need a guild to join, I am in a great one.
I played it when the e3 event was on ^_^ patchs where like once an hour ^_^.
I want to buy this game. I might trade some stuff at E-B games this weekend to grab this non pay-to-play MMORPG... :)

I'm extremely interested in getting this game. I'd like it to be the first game I purchase for my new computer. Could you (or someone) tell us a little more about the gameplay and it's game elements?

If you expect it to be like an MMO(and like only MMO-type RPGs) you'll likely be disappointed. If you don't like them(like myself, for instance) you'll find it interesting.

You can read on the gameplay/elements and some characteristics here.
Yea I read at EB Games that it was free to play online (Unlike that $13 for FFXI). Is that permanent or is it just something that lasts a few months?

It is permanent, that is because Guild wars is not like other MMORPGs, you are never in the same zone as anyone else but you team when questing. same go's for PvP, but with 2 or more teams of no more then 8. The largest zones are the town's where 50ish or so players will be. it's more of a MMORPG. with a graphicacl chat room called a town zone :P. But it a damn good game.

Thanks, I think I will check it out, then.

I thought mainly the same thing, but the amazing thing is your game isn't ran client-side, it's still ran server-side. (Client side wouldn't make sense for many reasons). There's still a huge amount of stress on the servers, though they done a good job breaking it down by making many zones of the "chat areas" like you said. I actually like it more because it's not as much like an MMORPG. =)

Guild wars is just simply amazing, but I wouldn't reccommend it for those who want to solo... it's much more of a team based game, although they offer NPC minions you can hire to go out adventuring with.

The game focus's a lot around pvp in the end game... at first you'll be playing the single player campaign in order to gain all the skills for each class, and one thing you'll notice is there are literally 100's of skills to choose from leaving an endless possibility of class creations!!

The story picks up slow but just gets better and better as you go along, and the world is huge and I doubt will be played through very quickly.

The crowning achievement of this game is the streaming technology that allows them to patch the game at any given point in time, just to fix minor details like graphical tweaks or a crash bug... it's sooo convenient.

The pvp is awesome but not worth going to the hall of heroes unless you've got friends to play with because most likely you'll get a bunch of new players who will waste your time. The random matchs are fun to play especially on the story campaign because you get exp for killing people!

The quest system is well done, it marks where you need to go on the map so you don't waste time... the missions that are specialized are well done and a lot of fun (at one point they have you running from these guys called the char and you have a time limit you need to make it back in).

All in all, the game is extremely polished and I would reccommend it to just about anyone!
I'm considering to get this game but I have a question:
Does Guild Wars require a video card that has T&L support?
In response to Officer Falcon
Every new game on the market does. you need a G-force 3 or greater for guild wars.
In response to Xzar
You can run Guild Wars on a Geforce 2 MX just fine, I don't get why its listed as a Geforce 3 as minimum in the reqs. Well, I ran it on my Geforce 2 a few times during BWE events, but it was quite a while ago, so it might of changed by now.

Guild wars is an amazing game, it's one of my favorite mmorpgs I have yet to play, the non patch system so rules. I mean, it takes 1-2 whole freaking hours to patch lineage II and like 30 minuets on World of Warcraft, do you really want to wait to patch a game? This game is just awesome. I've been writing a review for this game, I havn't formatted it or anything but you can get the general idea from it. I still have to type the rest review it and revise it. I wish I could watch xplay and find out what they rated guild wars as or even watch it at all I loved that show, till that peice of crap channel g4 took over, dang nazis. Anyway here:

Guild Wars Review

When I first bought guild wars, a few days before it was released and before I even get to my review, I can tell you it was worth it. I have been following guild wars since the early weekend beta tests but this review is based on the official release.

To jump right in, Guild Wars plays very different from any mmorpg you've ever played. A few reasons was because the developers were going for an mmorpg with a story line, and they did just that and the results were genius. When you jump into guild wars, you'll see that the customization is pretty darn good. You can customize your body size, hair style & color, face, and of course, your gender. Once you get into the game you can find various dyes to customize your charactors clothing even more as well as make many tatoos for your charactor. There are 6 Primary classes you can choose, but once you get into the game you can also choose a secondary proffesion. This makes for good combinations such as a warrior with the ability to revive or heal dying party members or even a ranged bow using ranger with the ability to rain down fire from affar onto enemies without taking a step. The classes are well made, you can choose from Necromancers, Monks, Warriors, Rangers, Elementalists, and Mesmers with handfulls of skills and spells, and when combined with a secondary class you can obtain even more spells and skills. Gameplay in this game is very unique, the entire world is an instance so when you leave a team or town-type area you get your own copy of the world unless someone is in your party then they share your copy of the world. This was done so the game developers could actually develop a story line, which is very intresting and has plenty of surprises. The community in Guild Wars is pretty good. Guild Wars enforces the naming rule which helps, each player must have a name of Two words or more such as Lady Anastazi or Katsumi Liquer but you still see the occasional "Im a good" or "i ispvp god" or even once I saw someone with the name c moore butts, saddly. Many people in guild wars are pretty intelligent except the select few who only know how to type in acronyms but there aren't many of them. Now, for the graphics. Guild Wars looks very nice! The enguine that was developed for Guild Wars is beautifull. When I got into the snowy mountains of Borlis Pass, I just had to stop playing for a momant and look at the beautifull sceanary. The world is very well designed to fit the story line and the play style. The music in Guild Wars is decent, I can't really fully grade it because the sound quality coming out of my speakers isn't very good so i'll move on to the final topic, game play! Game Play in guild wars is what makes it so good. As I said before you can either try soloing, or party up with people, your max party size increases are you go through the game. There are cooperative missions in the game which continue the story line, or you can do the side and primary quests for experience. Missions contain cinematics that include your party and gives your party members their own voices which is cool as well.

Community - 7/10
Graphics - 9/10
Classes/Abilities - 9/10
Game Play - 10/10
Customization - 8/10
Music - 6/10
Overall - 9/10
Yeah it looks awesome. I can't wait till I can actualy get it from a shop in my country :-P. It sounds easy to get into and looks real fun. I look foward to it.

Your images dont work. On top of that, if you want to join a guild, join mine, Pretty White Kids With Problems, or PWKWP for short. I go by Eagil Longshot or Gale Longshot in the game.
