You'll notice that quite a few more games have been added to the Guild's listing...
Though it goes against my outlined submission guidelines, I've simply gone through and added any Anime game that seemed to be popular... Those with a high rank and/or lots of connected players were picked...
Please note, though: I haven't looked into any of the new additions for violations of the guidelines... So some of them might be candidates to get axed (for instance, it looked like one of them might be using icons ripped from one of the GameBoy DBZ games... this would be grounds for removal, as that is flat-out copyright infringement... I'll have to check into it and see) I just wanted them to be listed initially, for further review, basically...
Another note: it is possible that the guild's listing will be broken up into two sections, approved/recommended games, and a listing of anything and everything else (just to have a directory-type listing of any and all Anime related BYOND games) In the event that this functionality comes to pass, I'll be leaving pretty much all of those games up there, and moving the less deserving ones down into the secondary listing, while keeping the best of the best in the "Featured/Recommended/Approved" listing...
Third note: some games that should be on there are not because they wouldn't turn up in the search for games to add, which means I can't add them... Hopefully this will be corrected soon...
Fourth note: they are not ordered in any specific way... They're simply up there in the order that I ran across them while scanning the lists of Live and Top Ranked games... In the future, as final Guild functions settle into place, they're likely to be rearranged...
Last note: if you are the owner of a game I've listed and, for whatever reason, you wish your game to be removed, contact me to let me know and I'll take it off...

You should really review those games... I am not going to pick specifics out... but you'll notice some games that are against the guidelines without a doubt.
Edit: If those games are left on the listing it really ruins the purpose of having the guild system in the first place... XD cause in my case, i tried my best to control NC community and its impression of being a rip just to get into the guild... but now... the whole effort goes to "waste"... Some get accepted without even expecting to get into the guild... and some really ripped a person's source without even editing much of it... |
It's pretty sad, that with the exception of NC and Anime Brawls, we've just got a bunch of rips in a channel that is supposed to represent anime on BYOND. I mean we can do a hell of a lot better.

Well, as it currently stands, that's a definite problem...
However, it is currently being discussed to potentially give these guilds a dual listing system... One listing will be for the officially endorsed games, and the other will be for everything else... When/if that is implemented, all of those listed games that don't meet the guidelines will be shifted down into the general listing, and the accepted games will remain in the top listing... But for the time being, the not-so-perfect games have been stuck in there to fill the place up and get a head start... [Edit:] Let me clarify a bit, though... These guilds are also intended to serve as "directories" for each of their respective categories (Anime, RPG, Arcade, and Strategy so far, but it will include more in the future) Which is the reason that it is being discussed to give them the ability to have two different "levels" of listings... That system isn't fully worked out yet, though, so for the time being, everything gets lumped together... |
The main problem is that botls is just a plain rip, the source is used without permission which is generally looked downed by. Who cares if it's popular it was STOLEN. Why not add a decent original anime game like DB online or something.

Yes Nbotls hould be removed from the guild list and not put back. It Is a complete rip and almost none changed, except where things are on the map.

Guilds were created to stop the nbtols crap. Guilds were supposed to promote quality games, not rips and stolen source codes. I really suggest you remove nbotls SSGX.

It pains me to have N:BOTLS up there (mostly because I HIGHLY dislike his practice of "Remove this game from your favorites list, and I'll delete your savefile" blackmailing), but the fact still remains that the game is immensely popular...
Popularity isn't a guage of actual quality, but it is a guage of how well people like the game, which indicates how well new people will like the game... And that's one of the main purposes (if not the main purpose) of these guilds: to offer a place to find games that players will like... No, it's not good to support a "rip", but in this case, there's really not much choice... N:BOTLS is a necessary evil for this guild's listing... [Edit:] However, the criteria of "no rips" in the guidelines will remain, and will be enforced... However, the seperation will only come when we're able to carry two listings (as I've mentioned)... N:BOTLS does need to be included in this guild's listing, but it won't be allowed in the "Recommended" listing... It'll get stuck down in the "Everything else" list... The guidelines only strictly apply to the games approved for the "Recommended" list (again, whenever it is implemented), the others will be judged rather loosely... |
I definitely agree with that. It should be on some unofficial listing that doesent represent quality games but it does represent the more popular.
|
Heh, that logic kind of sucks.
I'm sure drugs are popular but we don't point our children towards them. |
Ultimately, BYOND is a product that needs to be marketed to as high a number of "customers" as possible...
Anything that works towards that end is the "right" thing to do... It doesn't matter what product is shown, as long as that product can be used to gather "customers"... Quality is an important ideal, yes, but it doesn't pay the proverbial bills...lol |
Feel free to add my DBZ game if you want, rank is 56. I would say it is currently unrecognized(15-20 on avg), but lots of content / originality.
|
I think your game was one of the ones I tried to add, but BYOND wouldn't show it in the search results (the way these guilds are currently set up, I can't just go to the hub page for a game and click the Add To Favorites link, because this isn't my key)

My naruto game's coding, mapping ect is 100% original. Any icons we have that arent ours, we are replacing.
Anyway, i wanted to comment on something. I believe that no riped games should be added to the guild. (im not just pointing at NBOLTS) For crying out loud, some rips have a higher ranking than the original. so why do we continue to suport them and help their rank?(the rank part only applys to the top 10 i guess) but still even if wasnt on your top ten. If the rip has a higher byond rank than the original its really stupid. (EDIT): I think that some people take rips too lightly. No matter what somone will say, no game that has riped code/"borrowed" code/is a rip is gonna completly change the coding, this is what finaly makes it a rip in my opinion. |
oh well, the old WOTS coding is really, bad compared to the current version. So they can rip the old version all they want. It isn't going to help them much at all. All it's going to do is create a "Game" that isnt going to go anywhere.

Doesn't that defeat the point of the guidelines?
