Yes,You can play music,Movies and games. The DS does not even touch it! So what if there are minor pixelation problems on the screen. That's what DVDs/CD Players/MP3 Players/PS2's are for!!! I would buy the DS. :/ |

Well, let me try to be more helpful then these other goons.
Lets cover the PSP first shall we? Battery life covers anywhere from 2 hours, to 6 hours, depending on what you are doing, or the quality of the game. Iam sure as the developers learn how to handle the games better, the system power useage will go down. The PSP can play music files, can play movies The PSP can be played wireless with other PSP users The PSP has a nice large screen The PSP is less powerful then the PS2, much higher over the PS1. The PSP has been known to come with a slew of hardware errors. Anywhere from tons of dead pixels, UMD ejections by twisting the system, buttons being mis-allgined with the hardware (So, say for example the Triangle Button dosent work like it should) and even the analog sticks falling off the system. Price Range $250-$400 (varing on packages) For $250.00 you can get a system. Anything after that is "super packages" which come with a game, or headphones or a memory card. Ok now the Nintendo DS.. The battery life for the Nintnedo DS is 10 hours or greater, depending on the quality of the game, or the type you are playing. A gameboy advance game dosent use as much power. The Nintendo DS can ALSO play media files if you want to buy a accessorie. Which is rather nice. With the PSP you have to pay for the extra advantage, with the DS you can choose if you want it or not. The NDS can be played wireless with other NDS users Also has a nice, bigger, crystal clear screen, two of them. One of the screens is touch activated. The Nintendo DS is nice and compact The Nintnedo DS adds support for GBA games. That means, long after the GBA is gone, and the games are going for $2 or $5, you can still be playing them. The DS, while still having hardware errors, have much less. Reports of 1 or 2 burnt pixels are the most. The Nintnedo DS is overpowered compaired to the N64. I would , I suppose mark it under the Sega Dreamcast somewhere. Price ranges anywhere from $150-$200 depending on packages. For $150 you can get the system, for $200 you can get an extra battery, a game and a carrying case. In the end you need to remeber, Nintnedo has crushed all other hand held systems because of the simple fact Nintnedo didn't rush the tech for hand held games. Look at the Sega Nomad, The Gamegear or even the NeoGeo Color pocket, Atari Lynx, they were years ahead of the Nintndo Gameboy, or Gameboy Color, Hell some even the GBA. But they still failed, because the hardware was pricey and it didnt work out well. All of the systems were bulky, pricey and had bad battery life. When you really cut to the core, do you want a hand held, multimedia giant or do you want a hand held system ment for portable gaming? Quite Frankly, I have a portable DVD player, I have a MP3 player, I dont need that stuff, and I dont want to have to pay for it. I MAY pick up a PSP if they ever do a more compact version. If you think about it, they could have did a PSP, with the thoughts of the PSX in mind, made it smaller, added support for the orginal PSX memory cards and had better battery life, instead they tried to make a powerhouse system. I may sound like a fan boy, and quite frankly, I'll always trust nintendo, because it was the first system I ever got, but I just think Sony screwed up with the PSP. |
My little brother has the PSP and it is amazing. I recommened you buy it. The graphics are also amazing. To be honest, the graphics and sound are way better than the actual PlayStation, and yes, the X-Box too. This may sound like complete 'S-Word', but you have to see it to believe it....

How many times do I have to get this points across, graphics are nothing in a game, sound is okay but not neccessary. People to buy systems for their graphics aren't even real gamers. |

I know graphics are not everything. I said the PSP was amazing, then I mentioned the graphics. If you want to know about the games, well, they are awesome. Go look them up and read about them, it helps.

Companies like Nintendo give conservative estimates in a game-like environment about how many polygons per second their system can do, and such. Sony gives out numbers that may or may not have actually happened in a simple, black environment, with everything tweaked so that they get the highest number possible. |

I don't really care what games the PSP has. If they are games that REALLY catch my attention, like the games on the PS2 did, then I'll buy the PSP. But right now, looking at the prices, I'm still going with the DS.

I have the Nintendo DS and I am going to sell it on eBay. It is no where near as good as I expected it to be. The touch pad is used to control your characters actions, such as shooting (if it is an action game) and all. But it gets annoying after awhile and you have to pay monthly for it. I should have got the PSP....

I should have got the PSP.... What the HELL are you talking about? First of all, the touch screen is totally optional in almost all the games I have played. All of them play top notch without the touch pad. (Unless you get a game that NEEDS it, and when I say need, I mean it, In a new Pokemon Racing game, you "rub" the screen to make them run, the faster you rub the faster they run.) You do NOT have to pay monthly for the DS. Are you high? Thirdly, unless you want to pay outrageous prices for the PSP, then go ahead. |

but I just think Sony screwed up with the PSP. Yeah, but Sony screw up with a lot of stuff. Sony works by making people want their products. The tech-specs and product quality aren't the key factors in this race. With connectivity being such a big deal in this generation of hand-helds popularity is going to decide the outcome. Normally it's simply cool/not cool to have a certian hand-held, but now it's a matter of can/can't play with everyone else. The one the rich kids get first is probably the winner. I think the PSP will sell alright, get a bunch of exclusive titles, and get enough of a foot hold to knock Nintendo off the "King of Hand-Held" throne. Sadly taking the throne doesn't do jack for gamers. |
