Woudl it be a good idea to upload your game's hosting files to byond so that others can download it and host the games themselves?

You cant upload your file to BYOND. Anyways if you want people to be able to host go ahead, if you want to be the only host then dont.

Well, you can't technically do that. If you do this, you have to link to another webpage to get the hosting files.
I think it has its pros and cons. 1) Poor, abusive hosts can ruin a game. 2) A lack of a centralised world can cause some problems (I.E. savefiles) 3) Some hosts just lose interest... Same as #2, basically. 4) They do offer escape from abusive hosts, and definition of special rules for the game. Though, not doing this has some pros and cons as well. 1) Players will have inscentive not to do anything stupid, as if they are banned, they CAN NOT run their own server. 2) A centralized world means stable savefiles, but sometimes can mean bandwidth/speed issues. 3) Crowded games can become rather irritating. 4) The ability to set up exclusive usage rules for your game. | |
