I used to share that opinion, but now that I have caught a few re-runs and have began getting into the show, I have to say it is a rather entertaining show.
In response to Kusanagi
Yeah, I was sure it was the worst thing in the world until I started watching it, too. That's one thing its creators are very good at... playing against people's expectations. They make the shows in a certain way so that it's "obvious" what you'll be getting... and then give you something else.

Joss Whedon's "space show", Firefly, did that to an even higher degree than Buffy did.

As they say, "Don't judge a book by its cover!" People tend to do this...all the time. Even watching two to three episodes and saying the show "sucks" is still, in another way, judging it without getting to "know" the show. You have to watch a lot of it, I would say about twenty or so episodes, just to get the feel of the show, then...you may judge it however you wish. Well, me...I like everything. Literaly. Well, not everything, but I found myself likeing every single show I watched a few times. I mean, I don't watch it actively, but, I would probably like it. I like to give things a chance.

Well, some of the deaths were in some way, expected. Not a lot of them though. I mean, you did think the kid in the dentist seat was going to die, right? I know you did, I think everyone did. But he didn't. That got everyone off guard. Most of the time, in shows, you see somebody splitting up then going upstairs in a house where a killer is instead of running outside. I mean, that is just stupid, seriously. It is obvious they will die. Well, Jamie Lee Curtis won't because she is immortal, but I think you catch my drift. I mean, Jamie Lee Curtis could go in a room filled with killers and find a way out, without getting a scratch.

I like to give things a chance too... mostly so I can laugh at them when they inevitably blow it. If you're walking along and you see something that looks like crap, and smells like crap, are you going to "give it a chance" and step in it a couple times on the off-chance that it's not crap? If a show can't stand on its own within 2 or 3 episodes, it's not a good show--period. Quality entertainment is not something that's ever set up to be apparently sucky--that's just not how it works.

It is admittedly true that you (generally) can't appreciate a show fully just by watching a couple episodes--but you don't need to, and frankly, in the case of a sucky show I wouldn't want to! Why worry about getting to know a show so I can pinpoint its exact level of mediocrity when I can simply watch a better show to begin with, or go do something else entirely?
I saw only the second one. It didn't scare me at all, it just grossed me out. That kid that was also in The Day after tomarrow looks exactly like my 6th grade buddy and he got splattered by a glass plane!

Then you need to give up on life.

Just because someone has a different opinion then you doesn't mean they should give up a life. You're just a tad off on that one.

Not if it was a locked room full of rapist and sentence to life killers, And she was all oiled up and naked. o_o

Eh, if I hadn't "got" Buffy by the second or third episode I saw, I would've dropped it and resumed my former opinion of it. :P

Actually, the reason I stayed past the first episode I saw was that it gave me a pretty clear indication that surface appearances were misleading. It was the episode where Spike escaped from the Initiative and discovered what the behavior modification chip did... the commercials for the episode were all "Spike is out for blood, and this time an innocent will be hurt" and showing a close-up of Spike chomping on Willow's neck, all scary and drama-y before the abruptly cut away... in the actual episode, of course, the scene turns into an impotence joke.

"I'm sure this happens to all the vampires."

"Not to me it doesn't!"

"We could wait and try again."

and so on. :P Completely the opposite of what was advertised.

Twenty or so episodes?

Faulty Towers only had 12 episodes...
...but then again, this IS coming from a DBZer.
In response to Leftley
Leftley, I never said you have to do it. I was giving a suggestion, well, of what I mostly do. And stepping in "crap" and watching "crap" are two completely different things. Of course stepping in a pile of crap 20 times will not get you to like stepping in the crap. But, watching a crappy show may have a slim chance of you liking it after watching a few episodes.

For example, the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond. I hated the first few episodes of the first season, but, then I began to like it after awhile. When the next season started, I liked it right away, but, one of my friends on the other hand, did not see the first season so he did not like the second one. See how it works? You have to like the show to begin with then you will like every season.

And if you have not noticed, every show that starts out, well, a majority of them...well, suck. I mean, they mostly in an odd way, have too. Nobody knows what to expect, not one show starts out big. Everybody Loves Raymond was probably the worst show ever, when it first came out. Then, it started to get funnier and better, as most shows do. Now it is the #1 hit show in America. See how things work? They go from small to big. Some go from small and stay there, then get thrown off the air.

No, it doesn't prove anything of the sort. It shows that different people have different tastes and opinions.

And personally...I don't think I could find credibility in an opinion from someone from someone who enjoys "Everyone Loves Raymond".

(I love you really)
What do you mean coming from a "DBZer"? You act like we are a group or something. First of all, I have not watched the show for 6 years, second of all, what does Faulty Towers have to do with anything? They had 12 episodes, good for you. If you have not noticed, I was talking about a show that has more then 12 episodes, that is why I have the number "20" in there. See it? Wait, to the left...alittle bit to the right...yeah, that's it!
You pretty much contradticted yourself. You say that it is my opinion that I feel that way, then you base your opinion, trying to insult me by saying "Coming from someone who enjoys Everybody Loves Raymond." That was your opinion. So, if you did not like me posting my opinion, why did you post yours? You think I might have liked it? I like the show, big deal. So does half of America.

I hear that the story in Dragon Ball Z takes many episodes to develop, that was what I was getting at.

I was also pointing out that many TV programs do not have 20 episodes- and watching 20 episodes to get "the feel" of a program is over-kill, anyway.

20 episodes?
With most shows, that's like investing 10 hours of your time into getting the feel for something.

If I had to spend 10 hours to get the feel of something, I'd have to be brain dead.

It was a joke, c'mon, man!

Ok, let me make a few changes.

She's handcuffed and weaponless, the room is completely bare of anything but her and the other men, and the door and walls are 50 inch steel plated nuke tested walls. The door takes 2 hours just to open. Now can she get out?

Yes

Let me make sure you understand...she is Jamie Lee Curtis. Of course she can get out! I mean, if she can "kill" a devil-controlled immortal demon 8 times, I think getting out of that wouldn't even break a sweat for her.
