I know there are alot of people that do constructive criticism or whatever you call it, but dont just down the person. It's like sayin you will never ever be sucessful in your life ever you stupid fat dumbass! If a question that someone asks is founf in a tutorial just say its in a tutorial thats it. You don't gotta say its in the tutorial you blind lazy dumabss or somethin...damn...I seriously eblive soem ppl need anger management...people need your help, not your discouragement. Just tell them what teh ywanan knwo or where they can fidn it, thats it. Ok, I'm through talking and i dont care wtf you say about me or this post...have a nice day/night... >_<
Uh..I dont understand please fix the typos. If anything you should be embarrased asking questions this basic and easy. If you dont want to be made fun of read a tutorial. And no one really made fun of you.
Most people don't like dealing with people who don't know what they're doing. People should take advantage of the DM Guide and all the tutorials. The DM Guide helped me a lot when I was new.

Like i said, i dont care wtf anybody says....Anybody thats experienced at soemthing can easily say that somrthing is low skilled or basic to a person who barely knows about it....

If you dont care why are you replying to my posts? Ask any newbie, the questions you ask are very basic. Read a tutorial.
In response to Dession
yeah and people have told you to read demo's and libraries. If you did that a bunch of the questions your asking would be self-answered.

Im not asking any questions? I only come to the forums if I cant find anything that can help me. Most of the time I ask for a certain command or ask what a command does. I dont ask for people to do my whole game for me.

I didnt mean it directed to you

Oh Sorry..Anyways..Try to reply to the persons post your talking too so someone doesn't get confused like I did.

It'll be a lot easier for you to get help if you separate yourself from the swarm of clueless cut and paste programmers. Start writing in complete sentences, capitalize "i" where appropriate, use a spell checker, stop saying things like wtf and use ellipses only when appropriate. Do this and I'm sure you will find the more knowledgeable people in the community will become much more helpful.

Unfortunately, not everyone can understand the tutorials as well as you can. Some people that come to BYOND have previous programming experience, so when they read the tutorial, they think, "wow, I get it, this is easy!" However, some people don't understand it well, and there aren't very many tutorials out there to choose from. If they get frustrated, they won't want to read the same tutorial over a dozen times, and they won't want to have everyone on the forums just tell them to read the tutorial. If the tutorial didn't help them, then it didn't help, and reading it over won't help too much.

Just to add to that sentiment, I'll say that this is more important than it may sound to someone who just doesn't care. Apathy is the real problem. When someone simply breezes through whatever they say without taking even a moment to consider how sloppily it's being said, they're usually taking the same amount of care with their code. Someone who's going to breeze through a tutorial without thinking won't learn from it, nor will someone who just plops code into their game and expects it to work. You need to follow its sequence and look for simple problems, just like when you write.

So you'll find the quality of help improves not only because you use better form, but because it shows you're probably going to pay attention to your code too. People who actually look at their code and try to deal with little problems are much, much easier to help than those who expect to be spoon-fed a snippet that will work on the first try. And besides, it's wearying trying to read through something that hasn't been structured intelligibly; many programmers just won't read it.

I don't know though... programming is one of those things where you just don't get it, and then you finally do after toying around with things for a long time or you read something that makes more sense then what the guides say.

Then even after you learn some, you hit walls where you can't understand certain things, then you one day you get past them, too.

It just takes a lot of time and patience for people to learn, and only people truely willing will ever make it but if we do discourage people then we will lose people who, when they do grow up or whatever and have an understanding of the language, will create games we might enjoy playing.

Since you know in school you could just look at the text book...

I mean who really needs a teacher? Who really cares that majority of us were conditioned to rely on a teacher to help us learn quicker?!

I don't think anyone cares that a teacher can cut your learning time down by atleast half, and increase your knowledge intake!

Your wrong, gurus DO like dealing with newbies and those in need of help, they just need to have the same courtesy and respect towards the gurus and such and they wish to recieve. See, it is a simple yet effective system.
