I was wondering out of all the strategy games in the world, what is your all time favorite?

Can be of any genre or you can have a few multiples, I am just curious :)
Starcraft is probably the best made one, I think... very balanced between the races.

That's a very hard question. It would have to be a Real-Time Strategy. I never played Starcraft though. I came from Runescape to BYOND, and the only stategy out of that was waiting for the rune to respawn.
CnC:RA2, 100%.

RA > RA2 :D

My favorite real-time one is Rise of Nations and my favorite turn based one is Age of Wonders:Shadow Magic.
Galactic Civilizations AND Civilizations 3 are both equally fun.
And Warcraft 3's level of customization is neat.

No way, you most have lost a screw or two :P. But TS was pretty good, it ranks close to RA and RA2, Generals sucked though.

Yes, most definatly Starcraft.

Generals owns RA and RA2 >:0

I've been liking what I've played so far of Culdcept. (I'd also like to get Ring of Red along with at least one of Disgaea, La Pucelle: Tactics, or Phantom Brave.)

However, games like Carpe Slimum have probably taken up much more of my time.

It is worth a try, at least. Starcraft, I believe, is one of the all-time most popular strategy games made. It's litteraly what put battle.net on the map :D

No way. It may have been 3D, but that doesnt, at all, make it better, the game play was not as fun.

Aside from the different way of constructing buildings it still felt a lot like the older Westwood games. It might not have been anything new or original but it was still a solid game.

I didn't like most of it. There where some new concepts that where cool, but nothing special. I own CnC(the first CnC game), TS, RA, RA2, and renegade(but this was a shooter, and a crappy one at that). I have played generals a lot though, and it was just not as fun as any of the above. That is just the way squels go though.

Uh yeah their concept of an RTS hasn't really changed much sense Dune 2 and has been mostly graphical and visual face lifts.

I don't know I found Renegade pretty fun. A nice change from all the FPS games that have you crammed in tight areas forcing you to play through the game in a certain way. It was also nice to be loaded with ammo instead of like in several FPSes where you end up using basic melee weapons or poor small firearms to conserve useful ammo.

yup. Starcraft is rated one of the top 10 strategy games ever created by many game reviewers out there. I believe it still has a very large player base after so many years of being out... what is it a 5 or 6 year old game?
Stratego!

[Edit] My second fav would most definetly have to be Dune 2. It's the big poppa to all RTS games, and is still a very fun and addictive game. Long live the Fighters!
