When I try to open IE it crashes after it loads a page. I didn't install anything new and checked my computer in and out of safe mode for viruses and came up with none. When I try to restart my computer through the start menu I sometimes get a message after a short pause saying "Closing program: Sysfader" eventhough there is no program named sysfade in the process window.

If anyone who is knowledgable on computer can help me, I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance.
Well, try getting a real.... I mean another browser(Mozilla Firebird doesn't require installation) and searching the microsoft knowlagebase. Might help, might not.

Those who bash have not the knowledge to be worth being bashed.

Anyway, it's most likely spy/adware named under a different process.

Check for processes that are Uncommon and you do not know what they are. Use regedit to catc hthe suspicious processes and find out what program is using them. Also, spy/adware likes to use the "Common files" folder in the "Program files". Check the "Program Files" folder for strange software you don't rememebr installing, or even seeing.

If it still doesn't work, you might as well just drop IE and move to a different browser, whatever browser you would like, and not others.

Kami is right, odds are it could be a problem with a piece of spyware. Spybot Seach & Destroy and Lavasoft's Adaware are pretty good and filtering out that junk. Both are worth the free download.

MS bashing aside, providing a post along the lines of "IE sucks! get a real browser!" do not help much (other than get Kami's underwear in a knot). :)

Seriously though, better off trying to fix the problem first before jumping off the MS bandwagon for something potentially better. Any problems arising from the use of MS applications will only get worse, or prevent non-MS appls from doing their best.

Thats why I was suggesting he use another browser to search microsofts site for an answer, I just added a little humor with a helpful message.

It requires that you download and unzip it. No installer needed.

Like Karasu Kami said, it's most like spy/adware. Try getting AdAware(free for personal use), and hopefully it will be able to fix your problem.

You can also try running the program "msconfig" and uncheck anything that looks like "Sysfader" from the "Startup" tab. On XP, I don't think that there's anything in there(the startup tab) that can cause your system to stop working if turned off, but be VERY careful about what you disable.
AdAware would be better, though.

That was a typo, read my edit. I was suggesting it because it doesnt need to be installed, just saves some time and effort(easy removal)

Ooops.
Anyways, it's too bad that Firefox, with its installer, puts more stuff all around your computer.

Thanks for the help and for not preaching anti-IE. The Ad-aware software caught a lot of spyware on my system. I'll post how much when it finishes scanning. Right now im using the web browser built into Realplayer to surf. ;P
[Edit]
Caught some 266 pieces of Spyware and fixed my problem ;) Thanks again.

Yup, but it is probably for the best. I still remember the day when a lot of software didn't install, just uncompress. Those where better days for computing.

For a nice combo, get both adware and Spybot, they clean up what the other leaves behind.

They do give you warnings though, it says that it might corrupt spyware that the other has cleaned, but it doesn't.
