I found PT cool at first, but as mentioned above, it got a bit repetative after a while. A shame really since I thought the graphics and terrain cool.
Another project to check out is Planeshift - http://www.planeshift.it/main_01.html |
PristonTale is boring indeed. Even with a exp hack when you lvl at the max rate possible (server is protected) it is just BORING :P The only goal in the game is to lvl up and get new equipment so you can kill even more hoppies.
Oooh and newsflash, PristonTale 2 is in development. Though bet it will be just as crappy, probably just new maps and new grafics. I personally played RO ALOT! Still, it doesnt have much quests but making a guild, party up and go hunt together is just fun. The slotted items and the card feature is just something thats really fun not to forget all the (rare) headgear u can make or earn, Together with all the Monsters and Classes i think RO is the best game ever (considering only MMORPG's) All new MMORPG's are based on fighting and fighting only. Really wish someone made a MMORPG where there wasnt even a battle system at all. Just nothing but gameplay, trying to survive on a lonely island or something. Anyways, for all "Free MMORPG" lovers (like myself) check: www.betawatcher.com www.mpogd.com Have FUN! I'm actually setting up a team right now for a new byond game. Maybe you'll hear from it in the future just if you do i know it will finally show that byond can also be used to make serious games. (no offense, not saying all games ain't) Greetz Fint |

I played Tibia a long time ago. It was teh P1/\/\PZ()RZ for a while, until about a year or two later. Then the whole goal became thieving, PVPing, and powergaming. But it was a VERY good game, and I think they made it well. Its sort of hard to control the players in a game when theres about 600,000 of them.
For those who have played Tibia, heres a true story of what one of my friends did: A noobie (Not as in someone who was new, but as in someone who had no will to play fairly) went up to my friend, and told him one of the latest and favorite ways to steal... "if u put a good item on depot and press ctrl and l ,then u wil get another!!1" My friend got an idea...He put his plate legs on the depot and said, (With sarcasm) "wtf ok i try" Luckily, he had another pair of plate legs. He put them under his feet,(acting like he had made another pair with "CTRL+L") and said "cool!!!!!!!" He then put them on the depot so the guy couldnt take them. The noobie couldnt believe this, so he went and tried this with his platinum coins. My friend then grabbed the coins as the poor noobie was logged out, tricked by his own trick. That friend of mine had a shiny new plate armor that day. =D |

All new MMORPG's are based on fighting and fighting only. Fighting doesn't have to be boring, for a perfect example look at any rouge like, such as Nethack, ADOM, Angband, etc. For an online multi-player example, look at TomeNet. I do like the Korean MMORPG model, if only for how easily it scales to accommodate once the basics are in-game. It also, unfortunately, manages to attract mostly power levelers and game hackers. |
Gah i went to http://eng.pristontale.com/ and i cant register, how dumb -_-

Ahh, Korean MMORPGs. Priston Tale, least for my tastes is one of the most monotonous (and for a Korean style action/RPG to be called one the most monotonous is a true accomplishment). I'd suggest checking Survival Project, Helbreath, Ragnarok Online or Legend of MIR before spending anytime hacking away at PT's boring leveling treadmill. Your enjoyment may vary, I got about four hours of entertainment out of PT. But that's just me, whose current favorite free online RPG for the past six months has been TomeNet.
