...amazing what you can do with the words "learn java" in your favorite search engine!

While I'm all for helping people who are having trouble with something, having to see posts like this one that could have easily been self-answered with a few keywords in a search engine hurts my brain and makes me weep silently to see brains cells die off un-used.

Just what you kids learning in computer class these days?

:p

Nothing usfull, they Teach us...that a keyboard is an input device, thats about it. Lol, i am at the top level computer class in my high school and still havnt learned a single thing from all of them. They just teach spreadsheets, powerpoint, and word. Over and over and over. I have made a 100 avarage in everyone of the 3 computer classes i have taken. Wait, i did learn one thing. "If marry has a kindergarden class that is hyper, she should use green or blue colors to calm the class" Ok, im done.

I had fun in my middle school computer class writing fake DOS shells to fool the teachers into thinking my computer was broken :).

We usually try and find as many security holes in the school network as we can. =)

The school has disabled (or at least attempted to disable): all shell right-click menus, the Control Panel, the task manager, local hard drive access, access to other computer's hard drives, access to floppy and CD drives, the command prompt, and a host of other things which I can't all remember. There are no desktop icons, and we can't create any. =P So what do we do? Use Notepad to make .bat files on our H: drives (everyone has their own "home" directory on the server, which is mapped to H:). Instant command prompt access! There's even a command that changes other user's passwords, which anyone can run. (I changed the password of the local administrator account, logged in to it, and proceeded to demonstrate to the bemused I.T. administrator in how many ways I could screw up the computer if I'd wanted to. This was the day after he'd finished setting up a new, supposedly secure network. =) ) I don't recommend anyone tries that unless your I.T. administrator has given you permission to find security holes, though. =P

Or unless your IT teacher practically dares students to put games on his 'inpenitrable' network. It was very funny indeed. First week into the course, Quake 2, Unreal Tournament, Crimson skies aswell as other games were all on the servers and computers. And by then end of the second year, we didnt do any work in the final year except for playing these games. Still got around 89% though for final exams.
