I spent all morning looking for a FREE Spyware and Adware remover. After I found out I had 364 spybots on my computer, I decided something had to be done to remove these devious little buggers. It pisses me off that companies put there friggin ads on my computer for free advertisement without my consent. If anyone is looking for a way to download files from Kazza without the hassles of bots? http://www.download.com they have a version of Kazza that prohibits you from downloading bots. Arm yourselves with knowledge!=p Besides, I just bought new RAM and they were slowing down my comp. =p
Heaven forbid that a program that supports illegal practices actually does something like this to your computer! How ghastly!

Kazaa doesn't support the transfer of material which should only be obtained through buying it =/. It is really supposed to be used as a file sharing network for freeware and movies/music of the likes that you can't buy, it just so happens that people use it in an illegal manner.

Then why don't they crack down on the people sending illegal files over it?
In response to Garthor
They are cracking down, have you not been paying attention to the news lately? They are finding the biggest supporters and bringing them to court, well supposedly, I'm not sure if they have anybody yet.

"They" being RIAA, not Kazaa.
In response to Garthor
You forget, RIAA has certain powers that allow them to get passed things like invasion of privacy at times, the people who run Kazaa do not, so there is no actual way the programmers could do so, and it's none of their buisness about how their users use their software. Not to mention trying to catch everyone who does it is like Dan and Tom trying to catch and punish all the game and icon rippers.

Dan and Tom don't install spyware on people's computers that allow them to tell what everyone is doing. Kazaa does.
In response to Garthor
Is that the only part you read in my message? I was using them as an example, maybe if you were not so cynical you could see the two sides to the story.

Well the RIAA is just going for the scare the crap out of all its users approach. They're just randomly targeting people with shared files(even some that just had 5) and taking them to court. They already have the IPs of ~800 users and are getting about 75 a day. If you want to see if they already got you and havn't got the lawsuit sent to you you can check out this site http://www.eff.org/IP/P2P/riaasubpoenas/ . But from what I heard the RIAA has a new chief executive who might handle things differently(http://news.com.com/ 2100-1027_3-5056299.html?tag=cd_mh).

Im reletively safe considering I dont share anything, and only download a song that gets stuck in my head once or twice a month.

Side 1: People want things for free. Thus, they illegally download said things for free, because it's their God-given right to do whatever they damn well please as long as A) it benefits them and B) they can do it. Then, they get pissed when someone starts pointing out that they are doing things that are illegal.

Side 2: My side. I've already expressed it.

If you can state one good, logical reason why these people should be getting commercial products for free, I will drop my argument.
In response to Garthor
Your arguement? You mean this talk we are having, which you have totally changed the meaning of? The creators of Kazaa aren't doing anything illegal, or intentionally doing anything illegal. Kazaa was created as a system so people could transfer free files to other users, not copyrighted files. People are going past this by transfering software/movies/music illegally because the items they are transfering are meant to be bought with legal tender. This has nothing to do with the concept that Kazaa installs Spyware, so I have yet to see what kind of point your trying to make.

If Kazaa isn't doing anything illegal, then why is it against international law to harbor criminals? Isn't that essentially the same thing?
In response to Garthor
They aren't harboring criminals. Thats like saying you might as well take down all the locksmiths and locksmithing companies who sell lock picks, because criminals use those to perform their illegal acts.

Kazaa is never the way to go. But as for ad/spy-ware, I had 550 on my old computer. I used a program called AD-AWARE It worked great.

-Camaro-

Ad-Aware hasn't been updated in a long while and it improperly removes some spyware which could be damaging to your computer. The better program to use is Spy-Bot Search and Destroy(http://beam.to/spybotsd).

Hey, I posted about that a while ago.
