Not a bug
BYOND Version:514
Operating System:Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Web Browser:Chrome 96.0.4664.110
Applies to:Dream Maker
Status: Not a bug

This is not a bug. It may be an incorrect use of syntax or a limitation in the software. For further discussion on the matter, please consult the BYOND forums.
Descriptive Problem Summary:
when clicking to place the cursor within the Edit Pane it displays graphical errors, and the cursor is a few spaces ahead, making it hard to see where the cursor is, and making the code unreadable.

Numbered Steps to Reproduce Problem:
none, i just opened dream maker after a long hiatus, this is a completely fresh install. i opened dream maker and when i clicked into the Edit Pane it showed the graphical bugs.

Code Snippet (if applicable) to Reproduce Problem: N/A

Expected Results: cursor placement in correct place, no graphical bugs.

Actual Results: cant read code due to graphical issues.

Does the problem occur:
Every time? Or how often? Everytime
In other games? N/A
In other user accounts? Havent checked.
On other computers? do not have a second computer to test on.

When does the problem NOT occur? it has yet to NOT occur.

Did the problem NOT occur in any earlier versions? If so, what was the last version that worked? (Visit http://www.byond.com/download/build to download old versions for testing.)

Workarounds:

Notes, i am going back through previous BYOND builds to figure out when this started. unfortunately, i am unsure what build i was using before, so will have to go through a few builds, im sure.

Edit: i should also note the graphical bugs can be corrected by scrolling so they are not visible.. this is not a good workaround as it requires you to do it evertime you either type, click, or select anything within the Edit Pane.

EDITS: Build Version 500 (latest of the 500.XXX builds) the cursor placement is correct, graphical bug still exists.

edit: i went back to 450.1032 and the graphical bug still exists: v400 cant be used due to launcher version being too low. this is the same as far back as v425.994.
Lummox JR resolved issue (Not a bug)
With an issue like this since you mentioned a graphical bug, it's important to include a picture. Nevertheless I know exactly what the problem is: You're using a non-monospace font.

Dream Maker doesn't even allow you to specify a variable-width font anymore in the settings. Just go to Options | Code Preferences... and choose a different font from the list of what's available.
