That sucks. Drivers Ed is required here. We can get our permit at 16 without taking drivers ed, then get out liscense at 16 and a half(with taking all the tests of course). If you get your permit at 16 and a half you only have to wait 60 days to get your liscense.

I wouldn't say either, since the English language didn't come from the United States... incase you didn't notice, English - England.

There is no official "American language", so that doesn't necessarily refer to English.

I turned 16 yesterday :) And I got into Drivers Ed too.

Just a word of advice, never show off for the ladies no matter what the circumstance. ;)

Yeah, it is supposed to be "cool" to drive, but I don't see the big deal. In my opinion, I believe you should have to wait until you're 18 to drive, because there are a lot of incidents involving teenagers with driving. I'm probably not going to get my driver's license for a while... there's no real reason right now for me to drive (seeing as how I'm 15). Prehaps I'll change my mind by the time I'm older though...

By all acounts for teenagers, driving is more or less a status symbol. I can understand for some people who might live far from work or school, but in many respects, driving a car, preferably a fancy car, is the driver's way of telling people he/she is part of the cool crew. Hey, if any of you out there like to subordinate yourself to purchasing crap you don't need to be part of the cool crew, I say good luck to you.

I dont care what my car looks like really, as long as it runs nice. I dont want to drive to be cool, i want to drive so i can go do something everyonce in a while. Right now im pritty much stuck at home 24-7 outside of school, so driving is important. I live in a small town were there is nothing to do around. Also there is nothing in walking distance. So driving is my only option. Driving is very important to most any teenager, not to be cool, but to get to were ever they need to. Not everyone lives in big citys were they can walk or ride a bus to anywere they want.

If im able to get a car when I get my drivers liscense, theres about 2 or 3 things it must be able to do/must have. A: Windows. B: It moves(not moves good, just moves at all). and C: It gets more than 10 miles to the gallon.
