I got a free high speed download of the Splinter Cell Demo from www.gamespot.com and when i woke up starting playing this and all i have to say is...wow...just wow...has anyone else played the full version PC or Xbox and can tell me your views on it?
I got it on the Xbox and i is it good!
just do a search for it in the forum to see that im not the only one that likes it!

I hope it's released on Gamecube.
It's alright. A good rent, maybe a good RE-rent, but that's about it.
I got the demo off a coverdisc... it might've been corrupted or something, but it was a complete unplayable MESS. Every time I pressed a key, Windows beeped; if I held a key down, Windows would beep continuously. The sound didn't work (except for that annoying beeping), it crashed the first couple of times I ran it, and the menu interface wasn't even complete.

Disgusted, I permanently deleted the buggy mess off my hard drive. I was looking forward to playing it, but that little episode turned me off it. I refuse to play (let alone buy) a game with so many bugs in it.

Maybe I'm being a bit unfair on the developers, but they really should have made sure the game was in a playable state BEFORE they released the demo.

Did you ever stop to think that it might've been a problem with your computer, and not the demo? Or possibly even the disc?

Yes.

Official Xbox Magazine gave it the highest rating of any other game they have ever reviewed, so I'm not alone.

If you had a point, it got lost somewhere while hitting the post button.

Haha, good one.

Anyways, what does it being an "Official Xbox Magazine" have to do with thier rating? Splinter Cell is on the PC and PS2. And it's a Tom Clancy game.... What the hell is your problem?

Although this doesn't exactly relate to just Splinter Cell, but all of the games for Xbox. Official Xbox Magazine is probably funded or somehow affiliated with Microsoft, since it wouldn't be official without that connection. Now, Microsoft, as a money-hungry corporation, wants to make more money. Which means they have to sell more of their stuff, in this case, Xboxes. The more interested a person is in an Xbox, the higher chance they have of buying one.

Now, Microsoft tells the magazine to give good reviews to all (or most) of the games that they review. The consumer picks up the magazine, flips through and sees a lot of games getting good reviews. He thinks that most of them must be good games, so his chances of buying an Xbox are increased more than if he had seen honest reviews of these games.

Understand?

Simplified: Microsoft wants to make money by selling Xboxes. The more 'good' games the console seems to have, the more people are going to buy the console. At least, by my logic.

Sure.

Except the same can be said for any Xbox game. The point is that they rated it higher than the hundreds of other Xbox games, some of which are even made by MS (Splinter Cell is not). I thought maybe that would at least tell you that it's a good game.

Which was, after all, the question. Wasn't it?
Splinter Cell is great.
