Scoobert just said something that made me wonder, what does it take to make the average BYONDer sell out there project?
I get offered a LOT of money for the source code to DBEO when ever its up, but I wouldnt sell it for three reasons.
-I wouldnt release something like that on the BYOND community.
-Its not my project to sell out (I co-own it, and the original owner handed it down)
-I dont need the money, although even if I did I still wouldnt sell it out.
Anyway, just wondering what it would take to make you 'sell out'.

I think the highest (Serious offer) Ive reached is $150 US Dollars. Ive been offered up to $250 dollars worth of BYOND dimes, but I know that if I agreed to it they wouldnt actually have the money.

Still, I wouldnt trust the code with someone who brought it off me.

Me neither. Codeing was intrusted to you handed down. You shouldn't sell it.

Heh, but Im sure if you had of said 'Yeah I'll give you the code' they would have either A) Screwed you out of the money, or B) Just not had the money.
Like how Im constantly winning $10 million dollars... Dont they realise, If I didnt fall for there stupid scam once, sending me the exact same e-mail 10 times isnt going to make me think 'Gee, they must be legitimate'. -DogMan |

Youve won 10 million dollars!
Just send me an email and i will tell you my adress so you can start earning! This will cost $100,000 to start off with then with payments of $1000 every month. Its so easy isnt it? |

What was that you say? Your going to tell me how to get out of debt FREE!?! All I have to do is send you my credit cards, cheque book, and $5,000 in cash?
Honsestly though, who would actually fall for those e-mail scams? I wonder what sorts of looks youd get asking a lawyer for legal advice because you got swindeled out of all your money from one. Plus the only people who would even look at the e-mail probably wouldnt have any money left because duh, there in debt. "Ummm, I sort of sent away all my money, to some guy, now he moved to Florida to start a cult, I was wondering if you could, like, get it back or something?" -DogMan |

You don't have to be stupid or gullible to get in debt - far from it.
Say for example, you have a high paying job and buy a really expensive house. Then you get sacked or the company you're working for goes out of business, and you can't find another job. Suddenly you've got this massive mortgage to pay off and no money to pay it with... whoops, you've just got yourself in debt. |
The highest offer I've ever gotten for DBTC is one dime and a "rare" icon...lol That same individual came >this< close to being the first to be placed in my pagerban list for his persistence in asking after repeated "no"s... But my patience won out, and I was able to finally get it through to him that DBTC wasn't, and will never be, for sale...and I didn't have to ban him...
I've had others asking to get the source to DBTC, but most never get far enough with it to make me an offer..lol What I get the most of is people that want to "help" me with the game... People who want to do icons for me, or help with code... Which I always assume to be ploys to get the source since they're working as my "partner"... So I promptly and emphatically turn them down... Besides, I don't want any help on DBTC... All of the work (aside from Spuzzum's Admin lib) has come from my own two hands... And I intend to keep it that way... And heck, I really intend to alter the admin library and adapt it to better suit the game... There are a lot of commands that I just never use that I'm going to get rid of... And there's all kinds of room for personalization (boot messages, etc)... And I've already coded some game-specific GM verbs... I also plan to turn the whole thing into procs called by one "GM" verb that allows me to pick from a list of the commands (as I've done with my battle system and the host's Tournament handling system) to unclutter my verb panels... |

I highly doubt I would ever sell out on any of my games. The thought of 100 copies of ripped Survival, each with a different looking tree is scary indeed.
