CGI isn't a language of it's own, it's an interface, DM is a type of CGI, C++ (what this forum uses) is a type of CGI.

You should look for a tutorial on PERL. It works for CGI too, and I've heard it's easier to understand.

PERL is to DM (which both can be used via CGI to generate webpages) what an anti-gravity device is to a table (which both keep things from falling to the floor). |
