I got to see Dan for the first time today! I can't say he looked exactly like I thought he would... I didn't expect such a tall guy, either!

I called him in because of a Careers project that we have to complete. It requires that we call in a professional in the career path of our choice. Having been aquainted with Dan online, I e-mailed him and he made a trip to my school in Oregon, Wisconsin today.

It was just like me to be late to class. I had to get an on-the-spot pass from my Spanish class. I don't know what made me think he'd recognise me, but it seemed strange at first that he didn't know I was me. When I had secured a seat in the Carreers room, he started talking about his carreer in computer science, his education, and other things.

Whatever questions were asked, he answered them well. He's a good speaker regardless of the fact that he's not exactly got a wonderous voice. He brought along 5 copies of the Blue Book and passed them around, getting a lot of "what is this junk" and "this makes no sense" from the class. I should have brought my book along... he signed my friend's, though, so maybe she'll trade me. Heh.

One of the things I noticed is that he did not mention the name BYOND once. Well, maybe -once- when the pronunciation was questioned, but that was it. He didn't talk about the website or the design experience or the player base BYOND had formed. I didn't see an exact reason, but it did make him seem a little bit more monotonous, talking about his "other project" when he did.

All in all, my first meeting with Dan was a good one and I hope I can see him again!
