I'd like to draw your attention to the bolded statements... and say WTF? If you admit that the growth levels of physical and pmetaphysical strength are ridiculous, how can you question my belief that DBZ presents a poor interpretation of its core ideology? Whoah, wait-a-minute! If I "translated" this right your saying it was made off a bad idea and it could never exist? now, I dont mean to insult anything but I could say the whole buffy show is based on a bad idea because vampires could never exist. No one is questioning that this is a good lesson. It's a great lesson. DBZ is just a lousy teacher. It starts with a good lesson, but layers on so much garbage that in the end, you're swallowing 99.99% garbage for 0.01% enlightenment. A wise man once said, no matter the costs it is worth the knowledge, and that wise man, was a boy, and let his name be known as Geo..... I mean, if I come up to you on the street corner and say, "1+1=2, therefore I am the walking embodiment of the great ineffable Slinky of Power and I will harness the cows of righteousness to my sled of truth and plow the sky!", would you say that I'm speaking the truth, because I started with a true statement? No comment.... wait, I think I have one im my "Never ending bag of comments +9" somewhere.... ahh, yes, heres one! Wtf?! simple, intellegint, short and to the point.... I like it! Anyways, regardless of what lessons/messages are said, the actual underlying core message that Dragonball shows (and actions speak louder than words) is that you can measure a person's worth by measuring their power/prowess as a fighter. Trials are in essence conducted by combat, and so the lesson it teaches is: might makes right. They may phrase it as "righteousness makes you mighty", but in reality, that philosophy plays out in reverse. "Unrighteousness makes you unmighty"? Wait, you offended the regular Dragonball shows! They were funny when he was a kid (especially when he fought that one ninja guy and stepped all over the things with sharp ends (sorry, I had to return Tenchu 2, so I forget the name) or when he lands on the power pole screaming). It wasn't about fighting in the original dragonball shows, more of a comedy. -When I grow up, I want my best friend to be killed and me turn into a frog by a sorcerer like Frog did! -Geo |

Whoah, wait-a-minute! If I "translated" this right your saying it was made off a bad idea and it could never exist? now, I dont mean to insult anything but I could say the whole buffy show is based on a bad idea because vampires could never exist. Read what she bolded this time. She pointed out the biggest contradiction I've ever seen. My input is that people who look for underlying messages in a slew of miscellaneous trash have far too much time on their hands. Even so, if there is actually any meaning in there, it was added as an afterthought. I mean, please point out specific examples of character development, and I will support your case. In my case, I can provide an example of mine -- paraphrased since I don't have the intention of actually finding it and watching it: Namek whatisname: "Goku, aren't you finished yet?" Goku: "Argh..." Namek: "The spirit bomb is almost complete...!" Frieza: "Muahahahahahaha!" Goku: "Al...most... fin...ished...!" [Frieza fights and beats up everyone else] [Goku launches spirit bomb] [World practically explodes] Cheesy Narrator: "Did Goku survive? Find out in the next... DRAGONBALL Z!" Where's the message in that? |

If you'd translated that right, I would cast aside my crutches and shout "Hallelujah!" You didn't, which is good, because I don't have crutches. You got what I said exactly wrong. I said, it has a poor interpretation of its core ideology. Translation: no matter how good or bad the original idea is, the stuff they've built around it is pure crap. I didn't say they started with a bad idea, I said that what they started with is immaterial because they ended up with a pile of garbage. No one is questioning that this is a good lesson. It's a great lesson. DBZ is just a lousy teacher. It starts with a good lesson, but layers on so much garbage that in the end, you're swallowing 99.99% garbage for 0.01% enlightenment. They may phrase it as "righteousness makes you mighty", but in reality, that philosophy plays out in reverse. Unrighteousness makes you unmighty wouldn't be the reverse of righteousness makes you mighty. The stateded idea behind Dragonball that I hear a lot of fans use to jusitfy the show is Rightness implies Mightiness, but the way that plays out is Rightness is implied by Mightiness... which is a bad and even dangerous philosophy. |
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
