When I was at school yesterday, I saw a keychain that my friend had, it was a unicorn. I started to think, uni = one.....now what is a corn? Shouldn't it be uniHorn? HHHMMMMmmm......
|
Cosmic radiation mutated the corn, turning it into a rough, spiral bone protrusion. You didn't cover this in your assorted biology classes? Damn, I knew being a Computer Science major would bite me in the ass some day. |
Even though this was most likely intended as a joke... I figured I'd ruin the fun and give a straight answer...
Somehow..."corn" and "horn" are connected in some ancient language... "Cornucopia" means "Horn of Plenty"... So "unicorn" DOES in fact mean "one horn"... |
So, you can grasp that "uni" means "one," but not that "corn" means "horn?" For that matter, why don't we call triceratops trihornsonhead?
