When I was at school yesterday, I saw a keychain that my friend had, it was a unicorn. I started to think, uni = one.....now what is a corn? Shouldn't it be uniHorn? HHHMMMMmmm......

Cosmic radiation mutated the corn, turning it into a rough, spiral bone protrusion. You didn't cover this in your assorted biology classes?

Damn, I knew being a Computer Science major would bite me in the ass some day.
Even though this was most likely intended as a joke... I figured I'd ruin the fun and give a straight answer...

Somehow..."corn" and "horn" are connected in some ancient language... "Cornucopia" means "Horn of Plenty"... So "unicorn" DOES in fact mean "one horn"...
So, you can grasp that "uni" means "one," but not that "corn" means "horn?" For that matter, why don't we call triceratops trihornsonhead?

Lexy, you're a veritable hornucopia of reason.
