Well, I had to say it sometime.

I've been a part of this community for a little over 2 weeks now, and I'd just like to say how pleased I am to have found BYOND and its community. When I saw all the DBZ games I actually despaired of having an intelligent conversation on these forums (no offense, DBZ fans; not much, anyway), but it's remarkable how pleasant, lucid, and helpful the majority of BYOND's user base seems to be. People here have been quick to offer advice and support, and as a bonus the troll factor seems to be quite low. (Heck, even my obsesions about decent spelling and grammar aren't considered as completely anal here; even in my chat, held to a higher standard than most online communities, there are just some things one learns to live with.)

You guys are great, and I'm glad to be among you.

Damn I wanted that bud light too... Oooh well back to Duff... Doh!!!

Yeah it's a pleasure each time an intelligent and thoughtful person (those things not being necessarily paired in all cases) comes and, even better, stays.

Together we shall someday overcome DBZ with hordes of addictive, intelligent games that bring in a new kind of player!

Such as intellectuals with chronic addiction problems?

We can only hope. I recently veered off the RPG approach to a first game (I could perhaps make a fun fantasy-type or adventure game, but I'm profoundly ignorant in the realm of RPG design) and decided on something different instead. Very different.

The closest comparison I know to what I'm working on now, at least in some ways, is probably Tanks--though then again it might not end up being very comparable at all. It started out as a proof-of-concept thing (a concept I'm still trying to debug) that now looks like it could become a decent multiplayer game if I lay it out right. I'm still hashing out some of the basics, and haven't gotten anywhere near throwing in game features or a structure yet. Right now I'm still thinking those things out.

Probably a good thing -- RPG games are hard enough when you know exactly what you want, and people making RPGs rarely seem to progress very far with them, especially if they are the first game.
I have been with Byond for like 2 years(12/28/99) longer then practicly everyone on byond and the people are ok but some times they will get on ur nerves and stuff.... i just wish those damn dbz games would go away.. the onlyone thet i like is the dbz:secret fusion one.. he makes his own icons. but if you wanna play some cool byond games try:
Final Fantasy Elite(this game is the best!!)
Eternal World (this game is realy fun exept it is only up at night)
Tanks
Shape Shifter(couldn't stop playin but got a score of 1000 :( )

Speaking of which, Tazor07 presented himself pretty nicely. I think we might have something here!

It'll be like throwing sticks in the... stick... grinder...

Sometimes, I get depressed when I think of all the DBZ BYOND-goers that are, literally, BYOND's future. Then I think that obviously they aren't. We have loads of intelligent "newbies" (who are more than just a regular old newbie), that are curteous, and actually THANK YOU when you help them! THAT is BYOND's future. I smile when I think that BYOND will not, in fact, be overrun by "fun"-loving DBZ goers!

*sniff*

Like Vortezz, I grew a little concerned about the type of audience BYOND has been gathering. It's refreshing to see someone like you turn up every once in a while. I hope you stay a long time and make great games that are only outshone by my own ;)

Out of curiosity, how did you come to BYOND? :)
