I've still been plugging away at my Core Engine, as I've now named it. My most recent addition is the thickness to my "turfs". I can slope them just about any way I please. Each corner has a potential for 8 different heights for the top and bottom of the turf. When zones are built, only the potentially visible faces are constructed, which saves on rendering. I've changed the networking model around to more of a client-side system that will rely on server-side checks to keep things in line. The system of input updates just seemed like too much trouble for what I wanted it to do. I've implemented a basic FPS movement system, complete with strafing, jumping, and crouching. I've begun work on variable thickness for walls. I still need to make the corner pieces, and I'm running into a little trouble about how I'll handle how the wall will spill out a little away from the roofs. Since the last update, I've changed how textures are loaded for atoms and turfs. I'm laying the groundwork for a "materials" system like I had in BYOND Maeva. Hopefully I'll be starting on skeletal animation soon. I'll probably start with just a wooden mannequin model. I just had to tell someone about what I've done so far, no one seems to be online that I can send this to and test it out with... sheesh |
