I only read Chapters 1,2 and 3 from the guide.
If you learn about ATOM, var, verb, proc, icon and icon_state, I think you're good enough.

The rest, I learned from demos and libraries.
Just look at them and read the comments.
Works a lot.

Well read it again :-)

Actually I shamefully haven't read most of the DM guide but I have a good reason! I don't want programming a game to be an easy task, I'm going to college for Computer Science then to Devry for Game Programming and I want making a game to be difficult to say the least.
