I was looking at previous old post and I remember someone telling me that Volte made 3D models in his byond game. It was called like 3D client I think. I am wondering how would you do that? I just want to know if anyone can give me some tips and where to start from. So what I am asking is how to put 3D models into a byond game like Volte did, thanks.

Ok...see, to clear something up, Byond doesn't suppord 3d whatsoever. Ok now that's cleared, what Volte probably did was he took screenshots of a rendered 3d model, and made that into an icon.

Yes, I think you can put 3D models in.

Ah...it uses 3rd party support in order to give it a 3d and truly 3d look. But the interaction i presume is only the transfer of data from Microsoft's own OCX module thingys. Its in part because of .ocx files to transfer between any windows programs that makes this all possible. The regsvr is only to do some unregistering (right term? Idk...) of the dll which is then used by that 3dds.exe. Well that explains the usage of dlls and ocxs here. I do think that the truevision and tv dlls play an important part in making each render into an image or so...but that's pure speculation

That wasn't really BYOND. That was some other program that just put stuff onto BYOND's map screen.
You can render out 3d images and import them to dmi files, though. |
From what i was told, it was a client that worked in conjunction with BYOND, to make 3D games.
BYOND can do 3D, it just takes alot of work. and outside programs. :p |
I just got Voltes 3D client working and I can see it will have lots of outside programs like you guys said. It is pretty cool to see that it is possible. I want to learn how to do this but I should read more about stuff like this, be a expert at DM and learn other languages.

Nevermind, I got it working. The first file wouldn't lemme download it, the second one did. I just read that entire thread and it told me to place the address in the address bar, and that worked.
It's pretty neat, but wouldn't everyone else have to download that crap to use it? |
Yeah, I think they may. That is one of the bad parts unless Volte comes back and makes it easier. Also I do not know if multiplayer works for sure so can you host? If you can try hosting and I will join.

I can host, but not on port 1. Besides, I just delete it. In any case, it has no multiplayer setup for it.

Then that really doesn't count for diddly crap, and only serves to encourage people to ask "Will BYOND ever have 3D support?" without searching the forums first or applying logic. Good gads. Can we please just put a stake through this thing already? Lummox JR |

Nope, because with help from an outside program BYOND can. Why can't you just admit that. Saying BYOND can do something with the help of an outside program is pointless. It's like saying if you hold your dog's paws you can make him play Tetris. It's not really the dog playing, then, is it? It's like making a BYOND game that isn't BYOND-related at all, because it just serves as a gateway to some Web-based Flash content. It just doesn't count. Lummox JR |
