How might I make a engine like the RoyalNonesuchEngine. I have been trying to read up on things to learn how to do this. What will be like the basics?

Well I am not finished with the engine. I am right now working witth the buggy rotation. So I belive I am not going to release the source until I create a game. I am right now just making the rotation go North, East, South, West just until i fix all the bugs then I will make it so that you can turn smoothly around.
