So a friend of mine from work was showing me this automated news website. http://newsatseven.com/
It's a really cool thing: they generate an automated newscast - with an automated anchor. Their software pulls in items from the headlines, adds a cg anchor avatar, and adds relevant pictures and videos behind the anchor.
I'm hoping this takes off and goes further. I can imagine a customized version that builds its content from my feeds. While no Daily Show, it could still be a pretty cool way to digest the day's news. - Matt
I thought it was really interesting.

I like your CSS.

Looks like someone took a Microsoft-Sam-like, fed it news, made it talk, saved the sound bite, opened up Gary's mod (or the like) for half-life 2, made a scene putting the sound to the moving lips of a character, videoed that, then uploaded to youtube.
So, uh, not automated. If it was really automated it'd use one of those flash text2voice things (http://www.sitepal.com <== very impressive!) that reads data collected by a news-site-trawling bot. |
Wow. That is the freakiest thing I've ever seen. Especially the blogosphere feature. I am watching an old black guy dressed like a sk8er say "I think Nick is an amazing man" in a white man's voice while people in blue jumpsuits funnel through the alley amidst falling snow.
