Hey, how do you actually get a server to host your game, not to just hold it in its space for download. Thanks.

Web servers won't. Don't even think about trying to get Geocities to host it. =)
You need shell access to the server. Basically that means you can log in to a command prompt on the remote server (usually Unix-based, as opposed to DOS-based) where you can execute commands. Then BYOND needs to be installed on the server and DreamDaemon run. A warning though, most hosts don't like you hosting games on their servers without their permission. =) Search in Classified Ads for some hosting offers. Oreldwin was offering pretty cheap hosting a while back, I assume those offers are still current. |
