I've been trying to not ask the forum for help 'cause I thought it felt like cheating. But, I'm trying to make a Final Fantasy 1 type game, but I wanna use the original graphics for nostalgia's sake. I figured that I'll take each tile and enlarge it by four times so that it fits into the palette on Dream Maker and I can use it. Well, that failed everywhich way I turned. Meaning even when I enlarged it with numerous programs to what I thought would fit, it would somehow not work.

So, I'm asking if anyone's done anything that they know works for "ripping" out graphics on an NES game, though I don't like using the term "ripping" 'cause it sounds like I'm doing something wrong. I'm guessing a mapper but I can't find anything that would work good.

Can someone help or is this a lost cause? Thanks...
Get the full sized picture, go into paint. Save it to the game folder.

(I think your saying the graphics you want to use are to small to fill one tile so..)

The only way I know of that will make them fill one tile is to paste them into paint, and make the paintable so small that the image takes up all the space.(the dotted line goes all around the image and leaves no room for any other painting)

Then you go to image stretch/skew and make the horizontal and vertical views go from 101+ to enlarge the image.

And I think you have to change the image type from .bmp to gif or jpg(not sure) but if you do you'll need a program like power desk that allows you to convert bmp images to gif's or jpg's.
