Aye! Necromancy

It's going to be far simpler than I planned at first, since I have a habit of biting off more than I can chew, and I think I've done just that.

Don't expect much. It's going to suck, at least at first. It's my first game.

I hope I haven't cursed this project by talking about it before I've started working on it.

True Joust was wildly popular, but a lot of people played games like Zork too. So even back then, there was a niche for stories yet I agree it was a minor one compared with today.

An important point of difference is that Zork was a text adventure. Story is a bit more integrated into a game like that. In more action-oriented games, story can be secondary or even totally irrelevant. Many, many games from the '80s gave story an "eh, what the heck" shrug-off, writing anything that sounded vaguely plausible enough to explain the gameplay.

Modern games have gotten way too obsessed with cinematics and voice acting, and less concerned with gameplay.

By the way, the project was indeed cursed. I've decided to start working on something else. Maybe someday I'll find a scroll of uncursing, or place the project on an altar, and return to it, but not soon.
