Here is an idea I had when I was watching TV, it is an idea for a card game for BYOND, it is based on the idea of Sim City.

This is a card game, designed for 2-4 players. The point of the game is to collect the most amount of revenue while still keeping your city active. The first person with a score of 1200 points wins.

There is a single deck of cards, in this deck are city cards and scenario cards. A city card is usually a building that players can use to build their city up. These can rage from a Coal Power Plant to a Police Station.

Scenario cards are special events that can alter or change a player's city, for good or bad. This can rage from a Earth Quake to Monster Attacks and more.

Each city card will cost a amount of money to play. Each card can also generate revenue, cost revenue or bring on more population into your city. Playing areas like Commercial, Industrial and Residential cards will help you collect more taxes and will increase your score. Special cards like a Football Stadium will cost a lot of money, but will help bring in extra revenue and boost your score. Cards like Police Stations, will cost you money each round, but will help in special scenarios like riots and bank robberies.

When the game begins each player starts with $200,000.00 and will draw 6 cards. If a player does not get at least once source of power (Coal Power, Nuclear Power), then they may put their cards back in the deck and reshuffle.

Each round (except the very first). Players draw a card from the deck. Once they do that, they collect taxes from their city, and pay whatever it is they owe (Police Stations, Schools, Ect). As long as the player is in the green, they are in the game, if you fail to collect enough taxes in your round to stay above water, you are out of the game. You can, at any time, sell properity you can in play, for half of what you paid for it. You will loose the score the properity gives you and the population the card may bring in.

Most cards will require power. Power Stations can generate power, but is limited to how much they provide. As you play more area cards, youll have less power to use, eventually you'll have to play more power cards to keep up with the demand for power.

Some cards will require you to have a certain population in order to play them. Football Stadiums, Air Ports and even special gift cards such as a town statue or the mayors house, will all require a certain population to play, but are also vital for building up score.

Each card you play will give you a score. Schools and Hospitals will not nessescarly generate extra income for you, but will help boost your score.

The game ends when either all but one player goes bankrupt, or if a player reaches 1200 points.

How would you layout the 'table'? It seems as though it could get very messy very fast. And if your thinking of just having the cards layed out in a city plan it may aswell be a turn based sim-city game.
I'm not knocking the idea in anyway, I'd be interested to see how you plan to implement it, and it seems as though you've thought it through quite well.

PS. bonus points for liking sim city :D most people nowadays are sims fags.

Yea, firstly you aren't allowed to use that term on the forums. Secondly, The Sims and SimCity are both very fun and I enjoy both of the games a lot. Who cares if someone likes SimX or SimY. Most of them are still pretty damn fun.

Well at first I was going to make it so you had to use "power line" card to connect the other card to the power source. Then I decided how big and messy the table might get.

It was there I decided you would use some sort of stacking idea, kind of like how you use mana in magic the gathering. Similar cards would be stacked in such a way, so you could see how many were out and still read the data on the card.

Also, I love the Sims, so you need to back off spanky.

Sorry about my language (used to more mature forums) and no offence intended by the sims dig, personal opinion :p the point i was making was that most people ONLY play the sims and dont appreciate sim city :D

back to the matter at hand, that does sound like an interesting way to do it. Id be interested in seeing the development of this game :p

Already covered every point you made, drop it.

Secondly, you got anymore news yet about the game?

No not really, when I had an idea I think is good, I post it on the forums under Design Philosophy. It may or may not happen.
