I've been wondering how I should do my character creation to make my game more enjoyable to players. It's a MORPG with five races. Each race has it's stats and skills distibuted to fit the type of character they are. For right now we will call them by their specialty, Warrior race, Mystic race, Quick race, Crafter race, Balanced race.

Now after they decide their race, should I just leave that at that, or should I go into classes and distributable skill points? For instance, the player chooses the Warrior race, then chooses a magic type class. Or the player chooses the Warrior race, and distributes skills to magic based things.

Which also leads me to another question. For magic and weapons should I have different skills for each? For instance, blade skill, axe skill, pole arms skill, blunt skill, and then restorative skill, summoning skill, and destructive skill. Then their proficiency in each skill would effect how much damage they do and if they actually hit the target. Or should I not have a weapons skill and magic skill.

Express your opinions on what you like better, and why.

A combo of both.

Yes.

Don't feel like explaining as I am tired, but that's the way to go... More in-depth characters that way..
