I am creating a game called Legend of Shenron. Mainly I am trying to work on this project by myself in my spare time, it may take a while before completion because Im still in the process of learning DM coding and finishing up the icons.

Anyways, I've had a while to think being grounded in all (I still am, I only check my email every now and then) and so I've thought about trying a project by myself.

So, what would you guys like to see in a DragonBall Z game on BYOND? The greatest ideas from games and the greatest game creators are basically the players themselves (as far as my knowledge goes). Anyways, if you have any ideas for what you want to see in a DragonBall Z game (Try and make it something thats not to common or not used at all), then email me at [email protected].

Here are some of the ideas for the game that people have given me or I have thought of for the game.

- Begginner Training

Well first you will start off training under a master, such as Goku, Master Roshi, Piccolo, etc. When you train with them, you have to do certain quests that they ask you to do, once your done they will give you your very first few points in stats (All of your stats are 0 until you finish doing their quests). For instance, Goku give you all around balanced stats. Piccolo gives you more intellegence, etc.

-Recieving Items/Zenny/Some Experience

To recieve items, you must talk to city folk. They will give you certain quest that they need done, such as killing a monster. If you kill the monster and talk to the city person that gave you the quest, you will recieve some zenny or a rare item, possibly both if your lucky. Also you will gain some experience or possibly a level up.

These are all of the ideas Im going to post here, so remember if you want to send us someof your ideas in what YOU want to see in a DragonBall Z game, then email it to me. Also, if you want to help me in any other way, such as programming, web designing, etc, then email me about this too. I am sorry but I cannot pay you for your work, I can only give you basic Administrator powers and credits on the hub/forums.

Ashiko Koharu,
Sicne you asked for opinions, here is mine:
No, and I mean NO, dbz games.
I'd prefer it if you thought up something thats not DBZ, but okay. Your project. .:pokes Mysame:. he just ASKED =P

Uh lesse...not sure if thats what you meant, but when you get the reward for quests, make the amount of money random =P anywhere between..like..1 and 500 sounds about right XD

Make quests randomish, like someone go gets (.:pulls random ideas out:.) Goku's watch, and instead of Goku telling the next dude to get his watch, tell him to get something else..like..a new shirt coz he ripped his fighting..or something like that ^^ It's kinda wierd that Goku needs every single player to get him that micky mouse watch he left at home XP

Ummm I dunno...uhm...when/if you find the dragon balls (if your including them) instead of power and money, use them as a kinda suggestion box o.O

No pbags..seriously..every DBZ game has them. Instead, use monsters that are like really weak, and the further from town you go the tougher they are or something. pbags are SO overdone.

That's all I can really think of. Hope you can understand my ramblings =P Good luck with your project ^^

Do not base your comments on other peoples choice of genre, but rather on things like concept, screenshots, and/or in-game experience.
DBZ games are way, way overdone on BYOND, so much that nothing is really original anymore and none of the public DBZ games are well programmed (excluding DBL2). Your best shot would be to make a new game with original ideas, like a mario emulation for BYOND.
In response to Artemio
Wait a second, you played DBL2, right? If you did, you would know that wasn't programmed good. It bogged down the resources of the host it was on because of the flashy graphics, it lagged a lot. The good DBZ games that are programmed excellent also are Dragonball Epic Online, DBTC, and Legend of the Dragonballs.
I agree with JMT, no Pbags or weight-lifting. Whats up with training for hours just to get SSJ1. You should also have some cool stuff like if two kamehameha's collide and other beams. No zeta, period. Plus, you should add some stuff like cutscenes or something.

This isn't DBZ Budokai, nor is this C++. I'm sure cutscenes are possible, but not the way you are thinking. It'll be more like a really cheap movie.

How do you know what the way he is thinking is? He just mentioned it in one word and you assume that he is thinking something really advanced.
In response to Pyro_dragons
Cutscenes are possible with frames.

You could even use swapmaps, locate the client.eye to the map and then make the mobs there walk and stuff and then delete the map when done. You can just create the map when you need to. Actually, that would be a very good idea for cutscenes.
In response to Cheetoz
Let him work on the DBZ game (he has the right to make his own decisions), just as long he ain't ripping. I'm am fresh against ripping when it comes to achieving originality. Just because there are alot of DBZ games (mostly ripped ones) doesn't mean you shouldn't allow him to build his own DBZ game. And good luck on that DBZ game, just as long it doesn't use zeta code. :)

Edit: Also, like others said, you can make cutscenes. Hell, I was building something called Movie Maker BYOND that records movies (still incomplete though)
In response to Flerix
So I've noticed you've been posting a lot of simply bad input. Honestly, what other definition for cutscene (having to do with a game) is there? Yes, he took the one word given and told the topic creator it wasn't that great of an idea, but he did so justly even though if he isn't absolutely correct.

I did little cutscenes awhile back using SwapMaps and datums. Worked out pretty well in my opinion.

Or you can just make a movie in flash, and imbed it in the browser window... Or even a little popup. I mean, there are a lot of options here.

Im planing on making a beam clash battle system fo rmy db game when it is in the Beta version...It is possible but i just have to come around on how to think to make it.

... In a mud I play it takes at least a month (if your a power leveler) to even get Super Saiyan-Jin 1.

If you ask me, those transforms should be the hardest thing about the game to attain, because players are going to want them the most, so make it rare and hard to get, somethign WORTH getting.

Its so awesome to reach SSJ state, and then see 50 others just like you standing around. NO BAD MONKEY! You don't do it like that.

These transforms, all of them should be something rare and hard to get, something worth getting, make it meaningful to be a SSJ4.

Well except for the Changelings, I guess they are born witht the ability to transform.

And BTW, Dragonball Live!2 wasn't a good game, and even had gyms with P-Bags and weights in it. It was bascilly a Zeta game, that looked like it was done in crayons by a 2 year old. And Some of the sprites were even just redone from other games. Like the Flying states and Roshi's House. I got offical game sprites, that if you matched them up to DBL2's, they could look exactly the same except for the pastel colours.

Alright, well so far from what you guys have said (this is common stuff that is said really but I will list them anyways.)

1.Cutscenes (Im unsure about this >_>)

2.No Punching Bags (Of course, nobody punches a bag in DragonBall Z for training except for Videl.)

3.No Zeta coding (Obvious).

4.Random quest prizes.

5.Transformations should be the hardest things to get.

Well I've thought of something else, tell me what you think. There could be three types of fighting styles, Weapon Mastery, Hand to Hand, or K.I. So if you choose one of these fighting styles, it will be what you specialize in, so if you choose hand to hand (punching and kicking), you have to use hand to hand attacks to do the most amount of damage to a monster. With weapon mastery you would need to buy new swords and eventually find a way to get to Elder Kai's and pull out the Z-Sword. With K.I., you can learn a lot more moves then you do normally, also you can learn moves faster, and you gain a KI boost as well.

Well tell me what you think..>_>

Ashiko Koharu,
In response to Ashiko Koharu
Also, DON'T make ki overpowered. Lots of battle in Elysium/Zeta is just kikikikikikikiki... Make normal fighting just as strong. Ki should only be stronger if you put a lot of energy in it.
In response to Fire Dynasty
Ah, I get you. Very much like a powerstruggle system. Good luck on optimizing that, as it will likely lag if its not optimized. B)
In response to Bandock
Yeah, (yay another dbz game! </sarcasm>), another idea is , maybe, more player interactivity?
Ex: Player dies. (And no, you shouldn't be able to get out of "heaven." Goku only made it out cause he got a golden apple for the big, fat dude or something like that, I think.) The player would have to wait until a -nice- player would collect the Dragonball and wish him back to life. Or suffer within the land of teh dead forever! Muwha!
(But of course. Your Admin powers will be present (ALWAYS, duh) You could just wish him back yourself. >_<)

Another idea: Why not make a dragon-radar? Something cool like that for it. For finding the dragonballs? Maybe some other cool treausre. Like A dragon-horn or something.

Sorry for the parts with negativity in it.
