Imagine a world overrun by the dead...The living are the prey, hiding in the shadows, trying to survive without being eating...
(Thanks SSGX, as some graphics were drew for a friend, and then passed on to me. Thank you for helping him help me)

I have taken up a new project dubbed "Xombies". A rpg/action-shooter type game. The reason I say it part RPG becuase it has some RPG aspects...I don't want to say much yet, but here are some features that I have been working on.

Features:
Limb Detection System - A HUD of your body is showed on the screen. You can be damaged on 5 areas, left or right leg or arm, torso, and head. Each having effects if majorly damaged. If your right arm is torn off, and your dominant hand is right, your aim will be off. Head, your vision impaired.

Pixel Projectile System - Using ShadowDarke's pixel projectile lib, along with alot of editing/modifications, I have created a very efficient projecile system.

Lighting - Thanks to ShadowDarke's lighting lib, The game has a very erie, spooky feeling to it. With items such as flashlights and flares, you can increase vision in dark places...but be warned, the light attracks the undead at night..

Advanced AI Xombies - Not just randomly moving around, the AI for various types of Xombies is being worked on. While some being smarter then others, pound on a door to try and get in, others may break a window, relaying that information to other Xombies in sight, giving them acess to your hiding spot.

Special Effects/Eye Candy - Things such as weapon sounds, footsteps, doors creaking, and the undead moaning and groaning, along with spooky, yet fitting background music, it makes you feel like you are there. Oh, and let's not forget the blood flying from a corpse when shot.

Weapon System - One of the most time taking tasks was working on letting players have a active and secondary weapon, being able to swap out with them, and the hand system, letting players be inhibited to certain things when there hands are full becuase they are carrying a rifle. Melee weapons have also been thought out very carefully.

A puzzling, yet realistic map - The map of the game, which has lots of graphical details, puts a big touch on the game. An abandonded warehouse, dark and soundless. Are there Xombies waiting in unopened rooms? Who knows what are inside the buildings...some are safe...and some...well, you can find out.

Last of all, teasers, the controls for the game, and some screen shots taken recently.

Well, that is all for now, as things progress I will post more. For now I would like feedback/comments/ideas/critism.

Dude, I just bought a Zombie Survival Guide today at Borders. It's awesome.

Intersting. What does it feature?
In response to Sniper Joe
Its like that whole survival guide series like what to do in extreme cases. I just finished it in a few hours. Really professionally done. It explains all the tactics for hunting zombies or defending against them, what weapons to use, stocking up on supplies, vehicles, moving through different terrain, physiology of zombies, disposal of corpses, different levels of infestation (local -> global) and pretty much everything under the sun. I'm a big zombie fan so I picked it up right away when I saw it. $12.99, The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks.

Edit: A hospital would be one of the worst places to go. Thats were it spreads from since doctors almost always diagnose the infected as dead, then they rise in the morgue.A prison might be interesting but older ones were more fortified.
I'd actually like to write a story on the web about zombies. Have a series or something.

I demand that you remove my icons from your game!

Naw, just kidding...lol Glad to see them finally being put to use... I was waiting for your friend's game (a Mafia/Mob game, correct?) to come out, but it never seemed to materialize...

Anyways, you're welcome (heh, most of them are just recolors of icons from Murder Mansion, so it wasn't much work...lol)

Something I want to warn you about ahead of time, though... Since the game they were intended for never appeared (and it was all free work, anyways, meaning I didn't sell any rights to them), I was planning on using some of them for some new maps in the next version of Murder Mansion...

Personally, I don't mind them being in both games, as long as you don't... However, some people are touchy about that sort of thing (especially when one of us starts to get "you ripped those icons from [blank]!" comments), so if you'd prefer to keep them to yourself, I'll edit the ones I plan to use to make them different...

I suppose I could just be an ass and say "well, they were my icons, so I'll use them regardless", but that's not the kind of guy I am...lol

Anyways, your project is looking good (and not just because my icons are in there...lol)! I can't wait to play it!

Thank you for being very nice and mature about this, and oh, I was not planning to give anything from this project to anyone :-P Exept fun and gameplay! :-)

Hmm...
It looks good, but it's a little too bland, try making the roads have open sewers, or markings on the road, road signs, stuff like that.

And in the hospital, you should have nurses running around, and dead bodies, and those little carts, just stuff to make the game look a little more realistic.

I've read that book too! its wicked.

This really has no relevance to any of this. It just struck me as funny that the only thing that happens to you if your head is ripped off, is that your vision is impaired.

Are you sure the player isn't a Xombie too ? ;)

Sorry, I simply couldn't resist =)
In response to Jermman
looks interesting, but maybe you could try some more realistic blood effects... and you could work on your spelling a bit...

I'll check it out when I get teh time

I think the game is based in the future after the Xombies have taken over the world, so the hospital would have been one of the first places to go.

Cool game, I don't think I'll be able to play it at night though >.>
