EVOLUTION
The new Dragon Ball Z Game being created.
~ Recently 2 friends and I have been disgusted with all the Dragon Ball Z Games on the HUB, Rip or not. The games that weren't rips, mainly tried to "immitate" the others. Our idea was to go a different route with our game. ~
Basicly, the game is not based around sitting in a GYM all day punching a punching bag for EXP. I am not releasing alot of info about this yet, becuase we like to keep people waiting :).
Some things:
- We are creating the game from Scratch.
- All the icons, and code is being created right now.
Basicly, we are trying to take a different route from the classic "Zeta" model for a game.
We do, however, need some input on ideas, as player input is very welcome. We will post more information soon, and hopefully we can get our Website up and running :)
- Thanks! ~D3 Productions~

Fartmonger your idea seems good, but what if we had strong players walking around smashing people into walls, now that wouldnt be to nice would it ? (yea it would lol) but anyway ive already had some current ideas about this just make sure you follow the game O_o

Look at how the people made those DBZ gameboy games. They have got their ideas inline. Also, look at that one DBZ RPG for SNES. I am not saying to go get a ROM of it, but I'm not say don't. ;)

I get what your saying, we should perhaps start with basic goals that we should set and follow some of the details perhaps most games use (elimanating the grid{being able to tell where turfs starts because of blocky detail}, good area design, and also unique and creative features) But anyway thanks for your suggestion.

The best way to avoid something like that is to limit the potential difference between characters. Say players start with a strength of about 2 and finish with one of about 10, that means that a low level player still stands some sort of chance against an uber player (but they'd still have an advantage). This means that you can tailor the combat system more towards twitch gameplay and tactics. I.e. You could have moves that target specific parts of the body, like the legs, and a few good whacks to someone's legs would reduce their speed, their stance and whatever else you want.
I know it's a dbz game and therefore you're meant to get uber powerful but you did say you wanted to avoid players sitting in the gym all day >.> |
Exactly. That why we are limiting punching bags. I don't know why anyone will want to use them anyway, the punching bags are going to mainly be used at "scenery", as they will not help your statistics very much.
Basicly to train, you must use your skills in combat against monsters ranging from basic animals, to high level warriors. Don't forget about the other players in the game also. :) |
That's not what I'm saying >.> You should try to eliminate the urge to train completely, and make the game more about tactics and skill. For example if you're flying then you'll be able to move faster and do certain aerial moves etc. etc. but you'll also be more likely to get sent flying. Plus different moves should target different parts of the body, and instead of the all-encompassing HP stat that almost every game has, different parts of the body should have their own stamina, and you would therefor be able to disable your opponent by focusing on one particular body part, rather than just standing beside them and using the uber attack til they die.

You can't remove training from dragonball, that like removing the cold from ice.
Training, even in the offical games and anime have a heavy influence. But even in the games there are tatics.. Take Legendary Warriors for the GBC. Depending on your postion and stuff, different attacks will effect you differently. |
I dunno, maybe some DBZ games do have nice little touches like that (I'm a strict non-DBZer) but I'm guessing they don't or else there wouldn't be so much criticism...
