I have this idea for a game. There will be four different types of characters, Humans, Minotaurs, Demons, and Vampires. The setting is this dungeon (I may include a map editor later). The dungeon will be filled with such things as traps, fake walls, destroyable walls, toxic mist, etc. Players will choose their characters then go and fight other people. There are three game modes: Free for All, Team Play, and Team by Type (like all humans are grouped together, etc.)
The different types of characters will have different abilities. For example, demons will have fire breath ability and a teleport ability. Each race/type will have an offensive and defensive ability.
Tell me what you think.

Vampires have lower defense/health than others, making it vital for them to suck blood. They'll be able to suck the blood of living creatures. They will probably only be able to drink human and minotaur blood.
The special ability I had for minotaur was different. He would push the player back (possible into a hole or spikes), however, you're idea is cooler. Thanks ^.^ [edit] I was wondering if I should do Troll instead of minotaur. They are both dungeon related, but troll seems to go more with the other characters more. Please tell me which one you think is better. |

Why not do both? Have the minotaur more offensive with high attack/str/whatever, ramming and the like while the troll is weaker, but can regenerate wounds over time.

They just seem too much alike for the game. I dunno, it's kind of how I think I guess.

Personally I'd make them stronger than normal, but have them continually lose health- having to bite to restore it. Pro and con. |

They will probably only be able to drink human and minotaur blood. The reason I suggested they be stronger is that having to drink blood is a disadvantage. Unless drinking blood conveys some kind of bonus that you haven't mentioned, or is the only way to recharge health (so non-vampires can't recharge health). Just trying to balance out a perceived disadvantage with an advantage; plus, vampires are traditionally strong and fast - though there's absolutely no reason why you have to adhere to tradition, of course! Your choice. =) The special ability I had for minotaur was different. He would push the player back (possible into a hole or spikes), however, you're idea is cooler. Thanks ^.^ No problem. =) [edit] Vampires and minotaurs are from different settings, true, but I like having the settings mixed together. It's kinda cool. |

if you want to be extremely in depth you could have sub-classes for each class. Ex.:
human-sorcerer human-warrior human-healer vampire-dark priest etc. Also, have humans as basic and their stats normal and vary the other races upon humans stats. |

I do. Minotaurs/Trolls have high str, low speed. Demons have high hp/def, low str. Vampires have low hp/def, high speed.

if you do have sub-classes why don't you have Minotaurs and trolls in, same stats/different sub-classes

Fine, I'll say it. Basically, I don't want both, because I don't want to make icons for both.

- Minotaurs could have a "charge" ability that causes them to run continually in one direction until they hit a solid wall or die. Other players, destroyable walls, etc. pose no obstacle; players are simply damaged and thrown aside, and walls are (surprise!) destroyed. This ability would work better if there was a way to pin people to the ground temporarily, so teammates could do so and then allow the minotaur to charge.
- Vampires can only regenerate health by feeding on corpses, but do so quickly. Also, vampires could be faster and/or have a higher maximum health.
Anyway, the most important (and hardest) thing to do is to make a game that's balanced and plays well. Avoiding damage done by lag is always a good thing too, but for this style of game (action, I'm assuming) it may not be possible or even desirable.
Good luck!
