Could an option be added to have particles emitted from the particle emitter not be parented to the object they've been emitted from? Currently, particles are attached and move with the object they're emitted from, making it look bizarre for anything that moves.
It'd make it very useful for trailing projectiles and particles emitted from anything that moves as it'll make it look more natural.

+1 -- It's extremely difficult to find good use cases for particles when anything that has them and moves looks terrible.

I'm going to bump this. In my humble opinion I think this is the biggest limiting factor to the current particle setup, and it would be a very nice way to tie a bow on the 514 beta.

This hasn't been forgotten, but it turned out to be so crazy complicated it was holding up 514. I'll revisit later, probably once the renderer has gotten an upgrade (which hopefully I can do in 515).
