I've played a few games here on BYOND with map editors. And they don't really seem to hard in the way of hud, object selection and creating, and whatnot. But the one thing that has got me is the saving of the maps.

So how would you go about creating a map at will? Does it require incorporating other languages into(like Python), or can you do it all with BYOND?

The RacingGame Editor has a good example of how save and load maps. I've taken extra steps in my Ensya editor to reduce the filesize by storing the type references is the programs and just storing their position in the list to the savefiles. That way, instead of storing "/turf/terrain/desert/rocks/rock1", it just stores 172.

But most of what you need is pretty much covered in the Racing Game Editor, so that'd be a good place to look for examples. I don't think there are any tutorials or anything on this, but I haven't looked either.
