Here are some interesting words that I have come upon. It turns out that a lot of people have the incorrect definition for them. Bellow, I will place the words, the meanings, and I will put the words into a sentence so that they will be easier to understand.

Perverted: To turn something for the worse. - 'You perverted my song.' (In other words, you messed up my song.)

Fag: The end of a cigarette. 'Fags are bad for your health.' (In other words, cigarettes are bad for your health.)

Gay: Happy. 'My dad is gay.' (In other words, my father is happy.)

Patient: Someone who is currently in a mental facility, or who requires mental help. - 'My sister is a patient.' (In other words, my sister is a nutcase.)

I will try and find some more words. If you look in a dictionary, you will probably find different meanings for these words; the reason being that I found these meanings in older dictionaries.

If you happen to find any interesting meanings for words, please feel free to post them.

I love you Pj.
Actually, for many of the words, it's not even a matter of being an older version... even in any dictionary you would have used, the words would have had multiple meanings.

What you have done here is not provide the old meaning or the correct meaning, but is more a matter of providing lesser known or more obscure meanings.

The definition of fag as a cigarette is a modern one... just one not common in the U.S. It comes from the older meaning of "faggot" as a burning brand or ingot of wood... the derogatory meaning for "flaming" homosexual comes from the same place.

Somebody in a mental hospital has never been the primary definition of "patient", either... that comes from the broader and more accepted meaning of it as being one who is afflicted with any disease or condition, which comes from the oldest definition as "one who suffers."
Hello Person I knew at one time but don't know now!

Dagummit, Hedge beat me to it, but have you ever thought about how uncomplete old dictions are?
