alright, just pop this tidbit into your game!
client now, to display the picture: usr << "You look like this: <BIG>\icon[icon(<I>'whatever.dmi'</I>,<I>icon_state</I>)]</BIG>" remember, the italic parts are for you to specify, and you can display an object's icon too! usr << "You look like this: <BIG>\icon[usr]</BIG>" If you have errors, you did this wrong, Mine works perfectly. |

*sigh* You had to just give him the answer without letting him think, didn't you? Oh well.

crispy, this is a really hard one, and DM Script really is obsuce and hard to figure out. I had to use the help files just to figure this one out myself. To tell you the truth, I see no problem with asking for or recieving help on the forums, I learned mostly from code examples left in old posts in Code problems, and also from deconstructed demos and libraries.
You can't expect an infant to drive to McDonald's and buy himself a burger, it has to be fed for a while before it can do so. (lol, really dumb metaphors rule!) |

Give a man a fish and you'll feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you'll feed him for a lifetime.
The problem is not that it's not a decent way to learn; it is. But a lot of the time, people just take snippets from forums, mash them together, fiddle around until it usually works, and call it a game. They're not really trying to learn. And what do they do when they want a new feature? Straight back to the forums. I admit this definitely isn't true of all newbies, but the more people who learn to start teaching themselves the better. |
