Is it possible to connect 2 mobs with a trail of obj's?

So its like there tied together with a peice of rope. I think I could do it if the mobs wouldnt move around, but I want it so they are free to move around and still have the rope connect them.
Can someone help me with this one?

My post in Newbie central dealt with drawing a line of objects. It uses a formula called Bresenhams formula. In addition to something like this, you would want to check the distance between the two mobs, and force the weaker of the two to step towards the stronger/master.

In the event that you are going to use the joining objects as an actual leash, you will need many different icons to simulate the different possible angles between the two mobs.
