Most forums I'vs seen have this feature. It's not really neccessary but it might be cool.
Seems like a reasonable idea. Chances are it might sit pretty low on the priority list though, considering there are probably some other site features that the BYOND guys would consider more practical.

True that. True that. Maybe it's something they'll do when they get bored and don't feel like working on the 'important' features.

This has already been discussed countless times in other threads. Please use the search function.

Links or I don't believe it. I did search. I didn't find anything. The keywords I used were: users; browsing; this; forum. I used many combonations and I counted none. You should probably try searching yourself before you tell someone they need to.

It has been discussed and has been stated as "useless" and "a waste of time". I wholeheartedly agree.

What purpose could such a feature serve?

Found in two seconds using the search phrase "users online". ;-)

The way that's unerlined, it seems like I 'obviously' should have seen the thread about this. So, I went back and checked again. I found one about a year (10 pages) back where the same thing was posted. "ZOMG Mentioned zillin tiemz! gaye featrue! GTFO!" I went back another two years and didn't find anything. So, meh...

What purpose could such a feature serve?

In the thread I found the reasoning was the same that I mentioned it. I made a post at three (here at least) in the morning. Is anybody on, should I wait another ten minutes, or just leave?

Alright, so this idea is done. This thread is done. It's been (apparently) mentioned about a hundred times before and each were shot down. I'll never think such things again. The End. Lock.

P.S. I performed the exact same search and could not locate the thread again. Searching doesn't seem to be too consistent.

That topic doesn't come up when I search that. I narrowed it to just the Features forum, too. However, I can now find that other thread I mentioned in the onther post.
This has been discussed before, and it was turned down.

[Edit]
Here, actually.

I underlined it because I was emphasizing that he was right. There have been two links put into this thread and more could probably be found.

Not really wanting to drag this out any further, but both of the links go to the same thread.

Forums are never meant to be a 'real-time' medium like IIRC or a group chat room (like Chatters). The format is designed to allow people to make posts, then check back later (hours or days later) for replies, not sit around and lurk.
