As of right now if you go to BYOND.exe (pager) >> Friends, on the bottom left you'll see a pull down bar in which you can select online, busy, and away. I think it would be a good idea if we could put in custom away information. So if I was to go afk for a while I could type in [Afk - Dinner] or [Afk - I'm still hosting my game].
Frankly I don't see the need for that feature at all. I don't use it for one, mainly because I'm not treating the pager as my personal messaging service. Also, the status does not update properly (I think) so even if you set it to "Away" it'll take quite some time before everybody actually sees you as "Away".

I'd rather that instead of the pager, direct connections between players can be made. That way, it can become a chatroom: it will broadcast your location and status sort-of like it does now (perhaps faster?) and when you try to contact someone, it will establish a direct connection between the two so the chat is instantanous rather than "hold on, I have 242 other requests pending".

In fact, why can't a chat application -- like Chatters used to be -- take over the function of the pager? Then all the BYOND Pager would do is broadcast it's current location and connect you to a special BYOND world which handles the paging/chatting. :)

That's just more information for the hub server to receive and send, the way it works now is nice and simple and it should probably stay that way.
