Basically all that it does is put all post IDs in "ID.txt" format, ZIP them, GZIP them, and send them to the user who clicked the button.

This way, you can store the posts for certain forums on your HD.

Preferably also make formats.

"Text-format" - See above.
"phpBB2 Format" - Designed for phpBB2.
anything else (YaBB, postnuke, etc.)
Personally, when I want to read something on the BYOND forums, I go to the BYOND forums... but I guess that's just me. =)

But seriously folks...

It's not a bad idea, but on the other hand it's not a particularly good one either. Why would someone need such a thing?

if the aim is to have an offline copy of the forums, better to use a program like HTTRACK http://www.httrack.com/ to grab a copy. it does a good job of converting all the posts to statically linked pages you can read offline. not sure if the search function works though.

i suppose just a simple SQL dump or comma-delimited dump would work too (kinda like what wikipedia does periodically), so that people can build up their own searching routines for the forum data with BYOND itself.

i'd rather see BYOND 4.0 come out long before things are added to the forum just for convenience.
