Today Byond can be used by little children like ages 5 and 6 but yet we allow hentia and bad things on Byond? I feel this is a discrase. How can we be this stupid. And to think of it as amusment? If Dantom reads this I hope he does something.

This is a discrase Well, is that all, a least it's not a disgrace. Whew, you had me all worried for a minute! ;P (J/K) It is wrong, but I see nothing wrong with Hentai, pornography, or illicit subjects. Honestly, it's built into our personas (except for the hentai), I mean, look, I see nothing wrong with it except for the fact it's on BYOND. If you start censoring what's going to go next? The ability to make a game? Four and five year old kids shouldn't be on the internet without supervision, and I doubt many can even turn on a compter. Most of these games are labeled properly, so there is no reason why anyone should get angry, except for the parents of the kid who cliked the link, and then only at the kid. Why don't you e-mail Al Gore, he'd do something. He invented the internet you know. ;P |

Honestly, a child should look after there self. If a child wishes to get one the net, a parent should be there at all times. (That was said already, i know) the chances that a 5 year old kid can get into BYOND, i mean come one! a toddler maeking a key? Phhfff. I was 12 when i got my key. And you know what? If a child wish's to ge tone BYOND and something BAD comes up, a parent should assume all respinsiblty. Also, why in the heck would a kid whant on a huge program like BYOND, and how would they figure out how to use it?

I wouldn't want someone to tell me I can't make a game that's not suitable for 5 and 6 year olds, and I'm not going to suggest we tell anyone else that, either. Some people think that fighting or fantasy elements like magic are unsuitable for children... should we get rid of all the Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy games for encouraging violence and interest in the occult?
Furthermore, while I agree that BYOND should be selective in what appears in the official channels, how do you stop someone from making something on their own? |

I agree with you, but on a side note most of the people making these 'games' aren't old enough to even buy pornography, let alone create it. I couldn't care less what people create with BYOND anymore, but since Dantom is distributing the stuff won't they get caught up in the middle of any legal action? |

...No kid under the age of 9 or 10 is going to be on BYOND. It's surprising to see anyone under the age of 12 or 13 here.

Most kids online lie about their age. When you're ten it's cooler to be thirteen. When you're thirteen it is cooler to be sixteen.
Little little kids however probably wouldn't think to lie about how old they are. |

If they're on BYOND, they are supervised, or should be supervised by a parent at all times, just like anywhere else on the internet.

Are we talking about how things are or how they should be? Every toddler who drowns in a backyard swimming pool should've been supervised, but wasn't.
Of course, this doesn't weaken the point that the parents/caretakers are responsible... if anything, it strengthens it. |

Yep.
If someone says they're 21, they're 18. If they say they're 18, they're 16. If they say they're 16, they're 13. If they say they're 13, they're 10. If they say they're 10, they're 8. If they say they're 6, they're either 6 or an FBI agent, so either way, watch your mouth. :P |

Its not that they're making it with BYOND that's the issue, its that BYOND is behind the distribution of it because they host the unpublished channel. If they unpublished channel were removed (inciting everyone's complaints in the process) then the only way people could access unwanted material made with BYOND would be through the creators. At which point, BYOND isn't responsible anymore. At least, that's how it seems to me. I'm not a law expert or anything. |

Ignoring the fact that I'm 18, I'd like to say that I'm 21. I think I'll use my age to go buy some BEER AND PORN, in an effort to pretend I'm cooler than I really am.

I'll be 19 in about 3ish days, but I'm in Australia so I can already buy beer and porn. Like this one time Jimbo and I split a case of malt liquer and went down the porno magazine wearhouse...
The funny part is that's a true story, but we only did it for the sake of being able to start stories with that line. |

A kid drowning isn't alright because we know who to blame. If you can save the kid then you save the kid.
I think the key thing is that we can't save the kid, nor set up a 24 hour HUB SWAT team armed to the teeth ready to bust down the door of anyone doing something they shouldn't. |

BYOND is a tool, and as a tool people can use it to build anything they would like.
Now, the official BYOND channels are another matter, and in that case the BYOND Staff exercises editorial judgment, so you won't see the types of games you mention there. However it's quite possible you will see games that a 5 year old shouldn't play, as BYOND channels are not aimed at 5 year olds.
The remaining item is the unpublished section, where pretty much anything can show up, just like anything can show up if you do a search in Google.
Ultimately, the web is not a place where small children can be protected from things they shouldn't see. And online games are generally not a place that 5 year old children should be, unless a parent is with them at all times.
There is no way for BYOND to stand in as the parent, especially in a place like the web.
